“I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail”
“I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality”
“I Have a Dream” by ABBA
Sometimes even though one has heard a song so many times, there will be a time when the lyrics speak something different to them. That happened to me with the above song.
I love ABBA’s music and also the great “Mama Mia” movie! I have always liked this song, but the other day the words that I posted grabbed me in a different way. They made me think of my writing.
I love to write, or I simply wouldn’t do it. Writing makes me happy and its also a stress release for me at times. When Colin and I were writing “The Odessa Chronicles”, life was turning me upside down! I greatly enjoyed escaping to Moonbeam Farm with my dear fictional, (SSH! Don’t tell them that they aren’t real!) friends. If you would like more information on a book that will help you escape the real world for awhile, you can click on the book cover in the right hand margin.
Writing helped me through reality. “if you see the wonder of a fairytale, you can take the future, even if you fail.”
I am so thankful that I writing can help me when times get tough and it brings me joy in all the happy times as well.
What brings you joy? What helps you get through reality, when reality is harsh? I hope there is something that helps you find release, for I feel its so important! We all deal with stress, especially with this past year. Please don’t let it get the best of you, and don’t let it build up. Take time each day to just breathe!
Here is a video clip of the ABBA song. Its the clip taken from the movie. “Mama Mia!” I love just watching the sparkling ocean water.
That’s a nice song. Surprising, from a crappy movie like Mama Mia.
I cope by napping, and then I literally have a dream.
I read the Odessa Chronicles and found it to be a fun and entertaining book. I think it’s a good escape from the self-imposed nightmare of our pandemic response. And it’s long, so the reader gets their money’s worth.

See, what you are missing by not watching “Mama Mia!” Glad you liked the song, now you are just dying of curiosity to watch the movie, I know!
Napping can definitely help, as long as you don’t have a nightmare when dreaming!
Thanks for your kind words again about the book. When the book becomes famous and we go on tour, I think you should be our spokesperson. 🙂

No, the dying would occur if I watched the movie.
The worst nightmare that could occur while dreaming would be if I dreampt I was watching Mama Mia.
If I was your spokesperson, I’d probably just hold a fundraiser for poor Brad.

it’s a wonderful song, but it sounds like it belongs in a Disney movie.
nice to know that writing has such a positive effect on you.
Just being around family brings me joy…

Well hey, Disney movies and Mama Mia are on the same scale, right? LOL!
That’s great that being around family brings you joy, me as well. Though I do think that they can make you bang your head at times too! 🙂

OK. Here are some possibilities:
Aladdin, Tarzan, Woody, Peter Pan, and Sully.
There will probably be a bidding war for my services…

No Buzz Lightyear?

I figured I had to pick between Woody and Buzz, so I went with Buzz… 🙂

I was cracking up at Tarzan. I pick Woody for you. But yes they all may start a (cough…cough!) bidding war for sure! 🙂

the Tarzan connection is that one of the first actors to play Tarzan was Johnny Weismuller, an Olympic swimmer. Given that I was a swimmer, I always felt a connection to Tarzan… 🙂

It is difficult to find joy in this mess. I’m so frustrated with all of it.
Joy…my 20lb cat, aggravating Ken, local fresh ice cream, singing in my truck, organic chocolate, hot coffee, hot tea, cold wine, a frozen Margarita, watching the sunset in my Adirondack chair, my 38 year old pair of Chuck Taylor hi-tops, a local restaurant’s glorious pizza, thunderstorms, the smell of the air after the thunderstorm, dancing, making new friends, my photography and reading.
I’m with the Tipster. I wouldn’t be able to watch Mamma Mia. I’ve seen bits and pieces (clips) of the musical and the movie. Even with Benny, Bjorn and Frida’s involvement…just…nope. I literally grew up with ABBA’s music, from second grade all the way thru graduation. I’ve lived my own musical/movie with their music in the background. That is enough for me.

I know it is difficult but I would say that you did a good job of finding things that bring you joy. Love your list! Keep embracing those things! ❤

These days I seem to be on a pretty even keel ~ peaceful, content, happy, with sparks of joy for no real reason . . . just enjoying nature/life (light filtering through the trees, waves crashing on the beach, stars twinkling in the sky, pizza cooking in the oven).
Ask me again if Trump wins the election (ACK!) OR loses the election but refuses to vacate the White House. Either of those scenarios might put me into a tailspin. 😛

Good for you! Keep doing what you are doing and lets not think of those other scenarios!

beautiful words and this was like the therapy we all need. you have a lovely soul and genuine sweetness. I love how you spread the joy. I have been so consumed by work and neglected what makes me happy, writing one of them and also catching up on reading. So glad I visited you here today.
