From the Mountains to the Cornfields

Good Morning friends! The time is looming closer til we hit the road to go to the Mountains of North Carolina. Deep in the mountains! About the last half hour of the trip is when I have to watch my stomach, for its all curvy roads to get back to where my husband’s Aunt and Uncle and Grandma live. At least I am not pregnant! That time with the curvy roads really didn’t go well!

It might be curvy to get too, but they do live in a beautiful spot with mountains all around and a creek in their backyard. Hummingbird feeder on the front porch where they will actually come and sit on my Aunt if she stands very still by the feeder. Looking forward to relaxing with some of the sweetest people I know. I have joked with Brad before that I married him cause of his family 🙂

Being down in the mountains technology doesn’t work too well, but hope to touch base back here once we get to the cornfields of Indiana. That is where I will sit by sister-in-law’s pool soaking up the sun while chatting with my dear sis about everything under the sun!

Playing cards til late, making sure MIL doesn’t win is another thing that will definitely happen. We usually go on hikes as well and perhaps other outings  just depends on the weather. Went to a trampoline place out there before with good friends. The place was literally covered wall to wall, so that you could bounce off the wall. The kids loved it and have to say it was fun! That is until I attempted getting out of bed the next day. Quickest way to know that you aren’t quite as young as you used to be!  All in all it doesn’t really matter what we do, for we will be together enjoying family and that is what counts!

We will be leaving Wednesday, wanted to let you all know that I didn’t disappear when you notice no new posts from me for awhile. May be erratic for a little, but I will be back to regular posting within 2 weeks! Now gotta keep checking things off my To Do list and one of them is getting to the Post Office. Gotta seal the packages and then they are ready, and there is a smile in  my heart imagining the recipients faces! Have a great day everyone!

  1. Putting the correct address on them is a good start!

For the benefit of other readers, her first attempt at sending out a package misfired when it was delivered to her home (she had addressed it to herself!). The second attempt (I understand from a reliable source) ended in exactly the same way, and for the same reason! I guess it takes some of us a little longer to “catch on” than others. 🙂

Finally, if anybody reads this Comment, then Kudos to Carolyn for allowing it when she could very easily have blocked it!

Have a great day everybody… and have a great trip Carolyn and family. 🙂

    • Did you hear that Colin?? You may want to step outside and I am sure then you would have heard my yelling your name!! OH TRUST ME if I could have blocked this I would have, when people leave comments for the first time I get a message about approving them, but No I have no clue about how to block others!! And I also was yelling your Miss.Reliable Source’s name as well!

Now readers, PLEASE I can explain that things aren’t exactly as he worded them! But I really don’t have the time to now as I got a appt to go to. BUT I will explain, or attempt to at least, or OH Gosh, Colin I am yelling your name again as I leave!! And those packages are looking even BETTER! 🙂

      • Let me introduce myself. Hello everyone I am the reliable source and the partial thorn in Carolyns side from sun up to sun down.
I am relentless, calculating, I prey on those not as witty as my fellow cohort. I AM A CHAPPELL . MELANIE-CLEVERANNE CHAPPELL
And I AM my father’s daughter.

        • Hahaha! I really could have blocked this, BUT being the GOOD sport that I am I let it through 🙂 I have no words right now, but don’t worry they will come! But best of ALL the laughter will come when you get your package and you will be the one without words! 🙂 And yes you truly are your Father’s daughter! You Double Trouble Dynamic Duo!

  3. I have to laugh because I thought it was bad enough when I got a BLANK christmas card from Carolyn a few years ago. And when I say blank, I mean, no names, no note, no return address (so at least it didn’t go back to her!). The only way I knew it was from her was I recognized her writing.of my address (after a lifetime of letters, I guess I should be able to!) Love ya, Carolyn!

    • Glad you enjoyed this. Would love to say it was only a comedy script, but I am pretty sure you can tell it was for real. LOL! Yes for real i sent those packages to myself and FOR REAL the dear WITTY duo of Melanie and Colin WILL BE receiving the packages that are very DUE to them! 🙂 Trust me I will let you know when they arrive!

      • 🙂 Not long after my husband and I got married we did something we still laugh about today: We were going shopping for household items… we were excited and having a lot of fun. After shopping for a few hours, we walked back to our car. While walking through the parking lot we heard an engine running but didn’t see anyone in the cars around us. My husband said, “Who is the idiot that left his engine running!” We went to get in our car and he didn’t have his car keys… they were in the ignition and it was OUR engine that was running!!! LOL And we have a myriad of stories just like it. We give ourselves plenty of humor, so I do get it!

        • Yes, I would! I have a feeling you have a lot of doozies!

Actually after sharing my/our story with you, I thought I might share it on my blog as well. To balance things out and let people know, that while I struggle deeply, I still do laugh as well. It probably has helped to keep me sane. Like you, most of our laughter stems from crazy things I do or say! Some probably are not shareable! LOL

I think that it would be a great idea for you to share “the rest of the story” or the true story of how things really began! 😉

      • Oh I think that is great that you shared that on your blog! You are right about showing others that yes you haven’t stopped laughing !
It truly is a valuable resource to me so its great that I give myself so much material by what I say and Do! I have a feeling that if we got together we would have a hilarious time 😉
The post will be coming 😉

        • I haven’t shared it yet. But I may in the near future. Sharing it with you gave me the idea. And your hilarious story made me laugh and feel joy, it made me realize how important it is to bring laughter to others when we can.

Yes, I think so too! We might do nothing but laugh! 😉 I look forward to your post! And I hope you continue to have a wonderful time!

  4. Ha Ha! i am sure that you can’t wait! The more I think about it I think there must be a way that I can blame you and Melanie for my “moment of not thinking ” when addressing the packages. 😉

      • Ha Ha! The creatures are mythical yes! Glad to see that you have realized that by now! BUT the MUG package and otber packages are far from mythical. Be prepared to eat your words;) Remember that Monkey picture I posted ? May very well be your expression with the 1 package for sure 😉

  5. In fact I been thinking more and believe I may have the ultimate post Colin 😉 I think the readers deserve ri hear how this battle of wits all began! How me being totally innocent of course was bamboozled by 2 very NOT innocent witty co-horts! Could be interesting don’t you think? Won’t have time to do it before vacation is over but will be pondering the details 😉 😉

  6. Hi Carolyn (and everybody else): A Jackalope mug arrived today! I have to think “Why would I receive a Jackalope mug, and Melanie receive a “Hottest Girls” mug? Wouldn’t me receiving a “Hottest Girls” mug etc make more sense?” The answer would seem to be that you are one really confused lady Carolyn. We all know that you really messed up with this, but we can understand how it could happen. Two mugs are a lot of mugs and can really be confusing to work with can’t they?

  7. So glad you got the Jackalope mug! Tho I was all prepared for it to be something different! For it seems like my packages change in the mail! I just never know what to expect! I shake my head as I wait for the words to come! :P! They will come!

    • Oh aren’t you just so KIND! Excuse me for saying NO THANK YOU, I will find my own words! 🙂 There have been many going through my head, especially as my dear Sister in Law is chuckling away saying how PRICELESS your words and the story of the returned packages and now the supposedly “HOTTEST Girls” Mug is. She wasn’t very helpful either as far as words go, for PRICELESS was not the word I was thinking!!

      • She sounds like an absolutely wonderful Sister-in-law. Be sure that you treat her with the greatest courtesy and respect!
By the way…. I believe that Melanie is going to send you a pic of her (mine?) Hottest Girls mug as soon as she can get on internet. I could send you a pic of my (her?) Jackalope mug, but you seem to already know what that looks like! 🙂

    • Oh my face is speaking a 1000 words! Once she stops laughing I will be ” sure” to gve her the “utmost respect”!
A pcture you say? I am not even going to try to imagine it! Yes I know veey well what the Jaxkalope MUGS look like! Yes MUGS you know that js plural means more than 1. Like you and Melanie make 2. 2 Jackalope mugs for 2 people ! Nothing confusing about it!;)

    • Since I am so NICE I will RESPECT my dear Sis-in-law and tell you what she said after reading your kind words aboit her. “He’s A VERY SMART MAN” was her response. Once again not the words I was thinking!

      Liked by 2 people

      • Of course her words would be different from yours. She is clear thinker! You, on the other hand, send packages to yourself twice and have trouble remembering what mugs you sent where. The classic touch though, was to customize one of the mugs with a photo of a Jackalope (being a fictitious creature) and then having the Save the Jackalope message printed on it. Are you really trying to save a fictitious creature?

  8. Dumb phone! And you do know exactly what that word was supposed to be because you are a “smart” man ! Right? I am thinking of a quote that fits you. “You may have won the battle but you haven’t won the war”!!! 😉

  9. Oh my! Just witty chatter! Carolyn always knew how to stir up commotion with just the “right” people. This banter reminds me very much of watching some of the conversations she had in her youth! She hasn’t lost her touch! Love ya, Carolyn!
