When your taste buds delight in something they haven’t had in a long time! Chocolatey, Creamy Whoopie Pies!
One moment your are pulling your crying child’s fingers loose from your shirt as you try to go out the door … you blink … and your older teen is saying, with a smile, no tears … “Can’t you and Dad go away for a weekend!”
A Mother’s love keeps growing through the years! (My Dad, Mom, niece, sister and my precious great-nephew and great-niece.
I almost bought a pumpkin Whoopi pie at the farmers market today

It always feels a little troubling when your teenage kids want you to be out of the house for awhile.
I think you have a happy looking family. It looks like they all just ate Whoopie Pies.

I had to laugh when he said it as I gave him a raised eyebrows look. I replied that we were talking about going away for a weekend but now I wasn’t so sure!
Thanks, we are a happy bunch, but No, I was the only one that got the Whoopie pie. 🙂

That was a good reply. I’ll bet his face really fell, after hearing that.
Lucky you, with the monopoly on Whoopie Pies. I’ve found that when I get treats like these, it’s always best to hide them.

He was laughing too.
I do have the whoopie pies hidden. 🙂

The food that I have tasted in a while that I want was all cooked by my grandmother

Well my Grandma and Mom both made Whoopie pies, but you are probably talking about healthier food. 🙂
Food can bring back fond memories of grandmothers.

Healthy, probably not. My grandmother was not afraid to cook with butter.

Your grandma used butter? Mine used lard. LOL!

Mine probably did too; she was southern. She always had the most wonderful Sunday dinners. My cousins still talk about it too.

Nice! We didn’t live close enough for Sunday dinners but I remember Christmas dinners where there would literally be 3 tables filled with the desserts. Its no wonder I have a sweet tooth!

Talking about food and sweet things. My son got me an early Mother’s Day gift of a box of Salted Caramel Tea. 🙂

Thanks! And enjoy the visit with your Mom. By the way, have I mentioned before that my son’s name is Jason? LOL!

Another Jason, that’s scary. Does he love a good pun?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, apparently its in the name! Why wasn’t I warned about that?

Fortunately the puns don’t roll off his tongue like they do for certain people I know! He hasn’t quite developed that gift yet. 🙂

He needs training.

Too bad that I don’t know of any mentors that could train him!
Trust me he already has been having me …”smack my head”… with his sense of humor, he doesn’t need to be a Pun Master yet!

Awwww … what a beautiful family picture! Just so you know, your warning bells and flashing red lights should be going off if your teen invites you to “go away for the weekend”. I know this, because I was a teenager once (long, long time ago, back in another century) and I know the things I did when the cats went away for a weekend! Hot-wired dad’s car and kept the roads hot! 🤣

Thanks Jill! It was fun to be with them yesterday. And Haha! Yes, I am not naive. So you acquired hot wiring skills. 😄 Sounds like you had fun. Did you win races to?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Nope, I didn’t win any races, but I beat a lot of trains to the crossing! That was a favourite challenge back in those days, before the days of automatic gates … you waited ’til the train was almost to the crossing, then hit the gas and hoped that your engine didn’t choke! Back in those days, it was easy to hotwire a car … today’s cars not so much.
