The New Invention

They had been back to the North Pole for a few weeks now.  Everyone was surprised and delighted to meet Dinosaris, the flying dragon. Dinosaris was the happiest he had ever been, for he loved giving rides to the other elves and making them happy.

Some preferred to have a slow, smooth ride and then some elves were more daring and wanted him to go fast and spin around as they hung on. Snowflake got so excited at one point and let go for a brief moment waving his hands around.  Suddenly he started slipping and almost went flying into the air. When they landed his face was a little pale and his  legs may have been shaky as he climbed off Dinosaris. He decided to get himself a nice cup of Hot Cocoa and rest for a little while.

It took a little longer for the reindeer to accept Dinosaris. Santa had to assure them that Dinosaris would not be pulling the sleigh come Christmas time! Once that was dealt with the reindeer relaxed and admitted that having a flying dragon as a friend was pretty cool.

While all the other elves were busy getting rides from Dinosaris, Jinx, Jangle and Snowball were busy working on a new toy invention. Santa had asked if they would like to design a new toy and they jumped at the opportunity! They considered themselves to be very smart guys so how hard could it really be to design a new toy?

Eagerly they started planning.  At first it was a little chaotic, for each one had a different idea, but then they came up with a plan of how they could combine all  three of their ideas. They were confident that this would be a toy like no other and they couldn’t wait to show it to Santa.

Excitement was running high today. The toy was completely assembled now and they were ready to try it out. They had decided they would give it a test run after everyone went to sleep for the night.

Feeling proud of themselves they enjoyed the day and even took a few spins with Dinosaris too. Flying was fun to do, especially when they knew that they weren’t lost in the air this time, unlike their little adventure in trying to get back to the North Pole.

At last nighttime came and Jinx, Jangle and Snowball made their way to the Toy Invention Center.

They unlocked the door and went inside, turned on the light and there it was! It looked so grand sitting on the table. Wearing big smiles they walked to the table and Snowball pulled out his list.

“Okay guys, I have the list of all the things we need to check first before we start it up.”

“Are you sure you have the correct list? ” questioned Jinx.

“Well of course I am! There is only one list. ” he replied.

Jangle then piped up, “Actually there are many, many lists. All for different toys, you really need to be sure that the one you have is the one for our toy.”

Jangle was always very detailed oriented. Snowball just sighed.

“I assure you guys, this is the correct list, so can we please get started?

“Yes! Lets get started!” said Jinx.

“First turn the square lever in a counter clockwise direction. ”

“Done!” said Jangle.

“Now, turn the circle wheel around 3x.”

“Done!” said Jinx.

“Move the numbered dial to the the number 3.”

There was silence.

Snowball looked up from the list, ” Did you guys not hear me?  Move the numbered dial to the number 3.”

Silence again.

“What part of move the numbered dial to the number 3, are you guys not understanding?”  asked Snowball.

Jinx finally spoke. “Well it may be the part that has to do with finding the numbers.  There are no numbers on our dial.”

Jangle threw his hands up in the air, ” I knew you had the wrong list!”

“No, no, no!” said Snowball, this is the right list, but I am thinking that someone forgot to put the numbers on the dial!” All eyes turned to Jinx.

“Oops, I may have overlooked that detail.” said Jinx with a little color now in his cheeks.

“99 … 98 … 97 … ”  counted Snowball.

Jinx and Jangle both looked at him wondering what he was doing. They had noticed other times where he would just start counting out of the blue. Like when they were lost in the ship. Not being able to hold back their curiosity any longer they were just about to ask, when he stopped as suddenly as he had started,  and took a deep breath.

“All is well now,” he said with a smile.

“Surely we can guess at where the number 3 may be.”

Jinx and Jangle agreed, for they were smart after all, so why not!

Now for the final step, flicking the switch to the “ON” position.

“BOOM!”  Their hearts jumped, as they watched their toy disappear through the ceiling!

“Whoa!”  Jinx moved out of the way of the spinning table. The force of the motion of the toy had turned the table and the table leg had almost hit Jinx in the leg.

What was happening? The toy was out of control. It had touched down on another table as well making it spin. The tables were turning!

The toy was supposed to go sideways and spin in circles and turn upside down. It was an acrobatic rocket.

They all looked at each other and then raised their heads up looking at the ceiling. How were they ever going to explain the hole in the ceiling to Santa!

No one said a word, and then as they walked out the door, they all quietly said, “Perhaps Santa won’t notice the hole.”

Dinosaris shook his head as they left. They had never noticed him sleeping in the far off corner. “Perhaps Santa won’t notice the hole.”  Oh they are quite delusional, he chuckled. Life with them was surely not dull!

“The Lucky Eagle” Part 2

If you missed yesterday’s post which was Part 1 of Jinx and Jangle’s adventure then here is a link to it. “The Lucky Eagle”

The Lucky Eagle (Part 2)

Jinx thought surely he had lost his mind, and he actually was very close to that happening as he stared into the eyes of a dragon! It was smaller than most dragons, but it was still a dragon.

The dragon reared back its head with its mouth open and all 3 elves were sure that they were going to be vaporized within minutes, as they closed their eyes and scrunched up their faces.

They waited … nothing happened …. was the dragon still there? They were afraid to open their eyes to check. A few more minutes passed and there was only silence, the roaring of the dragon had ceased. The roaring may have ceased but Jangle could still feel his heart pounding in his ears.

“Jinx! Is the dra…dra..dragon still there?”  questioned Jangle.

“I have no idea! Why don’t you open your eyes and look?”

“I believe our fearless Captain Snowball should be the first to look, open your eyes Snowball.” said Jangle.

Snowball wasn’t so sure about that, he thought he did detect the sound of the dragon breathing.

“Let’s all open our eyes on the count of three, Okay!” said Snowball, and they all agreed.

“1 – 2 – 2 and 1/4 – 2 and 1/2 – 2 and 3/4  and 3!!!”

They all opened their eyes and gasped in fear at first as they did indeed still see the dragon, but then their faces registered confusion for the dragon was sitting down and …

“Is the dragon crying? Are those tears coming down his face?”  questioned Jinx in shock.

“What do we do?” Snowball asked?  ” I never saw dragon tears before?”

Jangle decided he would be the brave one.  He walked up to the dragon and laid a hand very timidly on his head.

“My friends and I would like to help you if we could, why are you crying?”  asked Jangle.

The dragon lifted his head and replied, “Everyone is always scared of me, when I saw you guys cower in fear and close your eyes, I was afraid that you would run off and I would be all lonely again.”

Now Jinx and Snowball came closer and they each touched the dragon’s head too.

“Well, we were very scared at first for all the dragons we ever heard of were fire breathing dragons and your roar was so loud!” said Jinx.

“I didn’t mean to scare you all, I was just so excited to see people. I have been alone on this island for quite awhile. In fact how did you get here, for this is a very remote island. I am surprised you found it!”

Jinx clapped his hand on Snowball’s shoulder and said, “Our wonderful Captain was the one to steer us here. Apparently he did know the right direction to go in!”

Snowball gave a sheepish smile at Jinx’s words as they all continued talking and getting to know each other. They had quite a wonderful time.  It was fun to realize that they didn’t need to be scared of the dragon, that yes he was different from them, but he was so very friendly. All they had to do was take the time to sit down and talk to him.

They found out that their dragon friend had a very deep laugh!  He got a big laugh out of Jinx getting soaked by a huge wave just as he was about to grab a fish from the sea.

“Well guys we better get going, we want to get back to the North Pole before it gets dark,” said Snowball.

They all agreed and were very excited.  This trip definitely had turned into a much bigger adventure than they had planned! They couldn’t wait to see how surprised everyone would be when they got back to the North Pole. Back to the North Pole with their new friend.

“All aboard!” cried the dragon.

Jangle, Jinx and Snowball climbed up the dragon’s back and hung on tight,  for what was sure to be one amazing ride through the azure blue sky.

What About George?

What really happened as Jinx and Jangle on their Christmas Eve adventure and who was George? Your questions  will soon be answered. If you haven’t read my earlier post, Twas the Night…. yet, you will want to read that first.

What About George?

Candy Cane was getting impatient. Jinx and Jangle had been back for a whole day now, but they had been sleeping all day! They came back just as all the Elves were getting ready for breakfast. Ate a quick bite, but didn’t say much of anything to anyone for they were too sleepy. They were not used to staying up all night!  Poor Jangle’s face fell right into his pancake that he had already poured syrup on. Jinx was laughing at Jangle and not thinking about what he was doing, until he felt something warm on his lap! He had poured the warm syrup right onto his lap, missing the plate completely. They both finished eating with flushed cheeks.

Candy Cane and Snowflake were sitting around Santa’s bed again waiting anxiously for Jinx and Jangle to come. Snowflake had just arrived saying that they were getting up now and would be over shortly to see Santa.

“Do you think they liked George?” asked Candy Cane with a sly smile.

Santa Clause chuckled and said, “Lets just wait and see if they bring him up as they tell us of their adventures.”

Candy Cane groaned, one of the first questions she had wanted to ask them was about George! “I will try to bite my tongue, but it will be hard if they don’t say anything! You know how I like to ask questions!”

“Yes”, said Santa,  “I know, your curiosity gets the best of you a lot of times.”

It wasn’t much longer until they heard a knock on Santa’s bedroom door.

“Come in!”  Santa said.

“Welcome back guys! We are all anxious to hear about how your night went!”

“Oh it was quite the exciting night”, said Jinx with a twinkle in his eye.

“It was truly magical!”, said Jangle.

“To travel through the sky with the stars shining bright, it was such a “Wow!” feeling!”  Jinx  said. “The reindeer did great!”

At this comment, Jangle started laughing, “Well most of the reindeer did  that is, Jinx did have a little run in with the tricky reindeer when he…”

Jinx gave Jangle a look, and interrupted him saying, ” Let me tell you about sweet Sally, Santa.”

Santa smiled, he knew he would get the full story from his reindeer about what Jangle was trying to say.

“Go ahead Jinx, tell me about sweet Sally.”

“Well she was sleeping on the couch when we got down the chimney. Jangle fell and knocked over something which woke her up. She raised her head opening her sleepy amber eyes and looked at us and said, “Santa”??

We told her that we were his elves, but that she had to go back to sleep. Her smile was so big, and she asked if she could have a hug from us. We gave her a hug and she smiled contently, saying how her brother would never believe that she had seen Santa’s elves, but she knew the truth. Once again she closed her eyes and soon was back to sleep.

Santa smiled. “There always seems to be some children that wake up when I come down the chimney and it does warm my heart to talk to them.”

Snowflake spoke up, ” How were the milk and cookies?”

“They were delicious, sadly though there was no mix up this time Santa, no spicy hot cookies from Mrs. Smith”, said Jangle.

“Oh and Taz , Bill Jones dog, did make Jangle jump high with his barking at first,” laughed Jinx,” but I remained calm and let him sniff us and he did calm down. He even let us pet him when we went to leave.”

“Much to our relief Luther the snake remained in his cage!” said Jangle. “He did watch us with those beady eyes of his though, followed our every move. That was one house that I was kind of anxious to get out of.”

Jinx shook his head in agreement.

“So glad to hear that things went so well”, said Santa.

“Now for the big question … Did you get to every house?”  Santa asked.

Candy Cane sighed, as Snowflake smiled at her. He knew what question she had hoped Santa would ask.

“We did get to every house! Had to make some U-turns at times, but we made it!”  Jinx and Jangle replied.

“Wonderful!” said Santa, “I am very pleased! Well done!”

Jinx and Jangle beamed, with a touch of red to their faces as Santa praised them.

“How are you feeling Santa, we should have asked that when we first came in.”

“I am doing pretty well. Tired of lying around, but I gotta listen to the Dr. I get more hungry though lying around, you all wouldn’t have saved any cookies for me perhaps?”

Jinx and Jangle looked at each other and smiled as they picked up a little gift box.

“We sure did save you some! Here you go Santa!”

Santa’s eyes gleamed, “Oh thank you so much! Now I just need some Egg Nog to dip them in!”

Candy Cane spoke up “I will get you some Santa, but Jinx and Jangle I do have one question for you…”

Santa looked at Candy Cane and she flushed, ” I will go get the Egg Nog now, Santa.”

She came back with the Egg Nog and Santa shared the cookies with the others. They were enjoying eating and then Jinx spoke up.

You know Santa, you warned us about Luther and Taz, but there was something else that you forgot to mention.

“Oh you must be talking about … Candy Cane could you refill my Egg Nog please?”

Snowflake started laughing when he saw Candy Cane’s face as she quickly grabbed Santa’s mug.

“Just hang on Jinx, until Candy Cane gets back. ”

Candy Cane came back with the Egg Nog and Snowflake said, “Could I have some too?”

Candy Cane made a face at him as Santa chuckled.

“Okay Jinx, continue please, what did I forget to tell you about?”

“You didn’t warn us about George!”

“OH yes, George, the pet monkey, that belongs to Dave and Sarah!”

“He hopped on Jinx’s back and about gave him a heart attack,” said Jangle.

“It was quite amusing! Jinx would put a candy cane in a stocking and George would take it back out!”

“Then he jumped on Jangle’s back just as he had lifted a mug of milk to drink, making his spill it all over himself, laughed Jinx.  “He was quite the friendly monkey! He tried coming up the chimney with us! It took us forever to get him to let go of us.”

They all laughed and were glad that the Christmas Eve night ride had been a success!

They did need to use the emergency water bucket at a couple houses! Then there were the  2 beautiful Persian cats at one house and 4 mischievous cats at Kate’s house, who were all wide eyed watching Jinx and Jangle. When they finally got bored watching them and turned away, Jinx and Jangle then laid their cat toys beneath the tree and some gifts for their humans. Oh what a fun night it had been!

Jinx and Jangle looked at Santa and said in unison, ” Santa, can we come with you next year?”

Twas the Night….

If you missed Part 1 yesterday about Jinx and Jangle’s latest adventure, here is the link for you.  Christmas Countdown

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and thank you very much for taking some of your precious time to read my posts and to comment throughout the year! Have so appreciated the friendships I have formed on here with readers and look forward to it continuing into 2019!

Twas the Night….

No one was sure of what to do. The Dr. had examined Santa and gave the diagnosis that his ankle was indeed broken. There was  no going down chimneys for him! What was going to happen, Christmas couldn’t be cancelled!  There really only seemed to be one solution. A solution that had Santa nervous!

Jinx and Jangle had been put in charge of Santa’s special reindeer awhile back, so they were the ones that the reindeer were most comfortable with.  Jinx had learned by now how to handle the one tricky reindeer. It only made sense to send them on the most special mission of the year!

Jinx and Jangle were very sorry that Santa was hurt, but they were ecstatic at the same time! A kind of sad-happy moment!

Santa was giving them last minute instructions from his bed.

“Remember be careful how you land on the rooftops, you don’t want them caving in on you! Also if there is smoke coming out of the chimney, whatever you do, don’t go down it! Take the emergency bucket of water and pour it down the chimney.”

Jinx was writing as fast as he could as he kept saying, “Yes sir, Yes sir!”

“When visiting the Smith family, be careful about eating their cookies, I think last year she accidentally put red pepper instead of cinnamon in her cookies. I never had guggled down a glass of milk as quickly as I did that night. In fact I had to go to their fridge and pour myself some more!”

Jangle was smiling, for he loved hot stuff, he secretly hoped that she would make that mistake again.

“Be careful of Taz, that is the dog that Bill Jones owns. A very nice dog, but he can scare you at first with his growling. When he sees your red suit you should be fine. Though you definitely aren’t as big as me, but I think it will be OK.”

Jinx and Jangle both said in unison, “You think…??” as a look of worry crept across their faces.

Santa chuckled, ” Yes, you will be fine, I just hope that the Richards remember to close Luther’s cage before they go to bed.”

Jangle said, “Umm…Santa sir, who would Luther be?”

“Oh Luther is their pet snake. It’s okay, he’s not poisonous, but Oh I had quite the time catching him one year!” again Santa chuckled at the looks on Jinx and Jangle’s faces.

“Don’t worry, I am sure all will be fine. You 2 will have everything under control, just like always, right?”

“Umm…Yes sir, just like always!” they replied.

“You know, I was feeling nervous about sending you guys out, but I am looking forward to hearing all about your adventure now. ” said Santa. “Well time is ticking, guess you guys better get to moving. The sleigh should already be loaded.”

Jinx and Jangle got up and said, ” Rest up Santa, and don’t worry about a thing, we won’t let you down!”

Santa smiled and said, ” I am sure you won’t!”

They closed the door behind them as they stepped outside and walked towards the sleigh where all the other elves were gathered.

“Are you sure we can do this Jinx?”  Jangle asked

“Sure, what could go wrong. We have the list, and the reindeer know the way, we can just sit back and enjoy the ride!”

“But what about Luther?”

“Lets not think about him right now, Okay!”

They walked the rest of the way in silence. They got to the sleigh and the other elves were cheering for them which boosted their spirits.

“You guys will do great, after all its a magical night, let the magic flow as you zoom through the sky!”

Jinx and Jangle smiled, they could do this, it would be a night like no other! They confidently got in the sleigh and Jinx took the reins. “Now Dancer, now Dasher and Prancer…” and then Jangle and the rest of the elves joined in, “On Comet and Cupid, Donner and Blitzen….Now dash away, dash away all! Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night!”  and away they flew!

Snowflake and Candy Cane were watching them soar into the sky. Candy Cane leaned over and whispered in Snowflake’s ear, “Do you think Santa remembered to warn them about George?”

“Who is George?” replied Snowflake

Candy Cane said, “Remember, George! Last year….when Santa got the surprise of his life, because …”

Snowflake started laughing. “OH YES! George!! Oooh yes, how could I have forgotten!”  They both started laughing as they ran to visit Santa wanting to know if he had told Jinx and Jangle about George.

Soon they were sitting around Santa’s bed drinking raspberry hot cocoa laughing about George, for indeed Santa had forgotten. They all eagerly looked forward to Jinx and Jangle’s return, it would be a night of adventure for sure!

Christmas Countdown

It was the final countdown, Christmas was almost here! Everyone was busy at the North Pole, burning the midnight oil. The Egg Nog was flowing and the Christmas music was playing for all to hear. You could hear it in the toy room and in the stables, for the reindeer enjoyed the music as well.

“Hey Rudolph, your song is playing!”, said Jangle. Rudolph turned a little red as he danced a little jig. As much of a jig as reindeer are capable of that is.

“Jangle, Jangle, are you done yet? ”

Jinx called to him as he came walking into the stable.

“We really need you in the toy room. Snowflake was talking to Jack Frost and not watching the conveyor belt. A toy got stuck and jammed it. Then Candy Cane turned the belt speed up faster not knowing a toy was stuck and toys went flying everywhere!

Of course Santa happened to walk in at the moment that the toys were flying and he got hit in the head by Tommy the train. Sparky quick caught the plush cat flying through the air and gave that to Santa to hold. That cat is always good at helping people smile. Santa hugged it as he shook his head and walked out the door. Then Lollipop told me to get you, for we need all the help we can get to mend the toys that broke when they went flying!”

“Wow! Sounds crazy. I will be right there!”

Jinx and Jangle walked out into the cold again as they headed for the toy room. When they walked in there were no more toys flying, but there was a stack of broken toys in the middle of the room. Sally the dolly was missing a arm and the handle was broken off of Jack in the Box. Dudley the walking dog was having trouble walking, for his back leg had been broken off when he fell off the conveyor belt.

“Well looks like we have quite our work cut out for us, we better get busy!” said Jangle.

“I have a roll of duck tape, too bad we just can’t use that!”, said Jinx.

“OH the weather outside is frightful, but …OH the weather outside is frightful, but….OH the weather outside is..”

“Oh great, the CD is skipping! This is going to be a loooong night!” said Jangle.

“Yes.” replied Jinx.

And they both picked up a toy from the big pile and looked at the huge countdown clock on the wall. Time was ticking away, would they get finished in time?

Suddenly there was a yell from  Candy Cane who opened the door letting a blast of cold air in.

“Quick! Santa fell in the snow and we think he might have broken his ankle because of the way he landed. We need some help transporting him to Dr.Frosty.”

Jangle’s mouth dropped open, “Can anything else go wrong tonight?” he said as he put the toy down that he was working on.

“Yes!” said Jinx.

Jangle looked at him, “What do you mean by that?”

“Well, for one thing you just put that porcelain doll down in a puddle of wet paint.”

Jangle quickly grabbed the toy and laid it aside.

“We will worry about that later, lets go help Santa. Christmas is just a day away!”

“Yes” replied Jinx.

Jangle opened his mouth, and then just shut it again. “….mmm…!”

(Part 2 tomorrow…. Will Santa be OK? What is he isn’t, what do you think will happen?)

The Mysterious Night

December is here! Its the busiest month of the year for 2 of our favorite elves. Do you think Jinx and Jangle are staying out of trouble? We will soon find out in the story below.  If you haven’t heard of Jinx and Jangle before, they are 2 of Santa’s elves who have run into several mishaps but Santa keeps them on, for they really are nice guys. If you haven’t read any of their adventures before here is a link to one of them.   for more of their adventures, just type Jinx and Jangle into the search bar and ENJOY!

The Mysterious Night

Snowflake and Candy Cane were sitting in Santa’s office with their heads in their hands as they were deep in thought.

At last Candy Cane spoke up, “I may have a solution to our problem Santa.”

A spark gleamed in Santa’s eyes as he raised his head. ” Wonderful! What is it?” , he asked.

“Well don’t get too excited yet, not sure how wonderful you will think it is.” replied Candy Cane.

“We need 2 elves for this mission, right?  And right now we are so busy that it is hard to find any elves to spare, but there are a certain 2 elves that do come to my mind.” said Candy Cane.

Snowflake spoke up, ” Are you talking about who I think you are talking about?”

“Yes.”, Candy Cane said quietly, as Snowflake burst out laughing.

“I think you been working too hard Candy Cane, for your brain is…”

Santa cut in, “Now, now, Snowflake, don’t dismiss the idea right away. Candy Cane are you suggesting I send Jinx and Jangle on this mission?”

“Yes Santa, I think they could handle it without too much mishap!”

Snowflake chuckled again as he shook his head. ” This could turn out to be very interesting! Go ahead Santa, let them do it. What’s the worst that could happen?”

Santa looked at Snowflake and took a deep breath as he said, “I would rather not answer that question, but I think I will let them go, I really have no one else to spare. I will go talk to them now. ”

Early the next morning Jinx and Jangle were getting the sleigh ready for their trip. They were so excited to have been chosen for this mission.

Jinx stood up and stretched, he had been checking the sleigh over,  “Everything seems to be in working order, I would say that we are ready to go. Hop in Jangle and get ready to ride!”

Their sleigh glided over the snow, they were making good speed. Jinx turned to Jangle and said. ” Pretty cool, eh! I made sure to make the rudders extra slick.”

“Smart thinking Jinx, you always make such great sense!”said Jangle as he was looking at the map. “We need to make a right turn in just a little bit, like right about nowwww,,,,Um Jinx, you missed the turn!”

“I couldn’t slow down to turn. In fact I can’t slow down at all!!!”

Wham! They ran into a snowbank. Jinx did a somersault into the snow and Jangle just tumbled out of the side of the sleigh landing face first in the snow.

Not a word was spoken as they both stood up brushing the snow off of them. They sat back down in the sleigh and that’s when Jangle turned to Jinx and said, ” What exactly did you grease the rudders with?”

Jinx didn’t reply, he just kept a straight face as once again they took off, and this time he made sure to make the turn.

After a few moments of silence, Jinx spoke up, “Do you hear something Jangle?”

Jangle strained to listen and then he heard it.  ” Yes, it sounds like a faint whimper.”

Jinx turned the sleigh towards the sound. “Umm..Jinx, the map says that we need to go straight.”

“Yes!” replied Jinx “But, we need to find out what is making that sound.”

The sound got a little louder the closer they got. Neither of them saw anything until they were almost on top of it.

“STOP Jinx!”

Jinx slid to a stop as Jangle fell out of his seat again. They both gasped as they looked at the sight in front of them. It was a little white arctic fox lying in the snow with its leg twisted at an odd angle.

“Poor fox!” said Jinx, we have to help it.

“Do you think it will bite? ” questioned Jangle.

“I am not sure, ” said Jinx, “Why don’t you hold its head while I try to lift it up.”

Jangle wasn’t sure how he felt about that plan! They both talked very soothingly to the little fox and moved slowly. Together they slowly picked it up and laid it in the back of their sleigh. It seemed to understand that they meant well and were trying to help it.

Jinx made sure to glide not as fast on his way home, and was very careful about hitting any bumps. It was late when they arrived back, but they knew that Vince the Vet would still be awake. He burned the midnight oil.

Jinx knocked on his door and they didn’t have to wait long at all before it opened.

“HI guys! What are you doing up this late?”

“We have a little Arctic Fox that needs your help. “

Vince was intrigued,  he didn’t even grab his coat to run out to the sleigh and see the fox.  “Aww, poor little thing! I will try my best to fix him up. How did you guys find him?”

“We were on our way to pick up the special …  OH NO! Jangle we forgot!” To Vince’s surprise they gently picked up the little fox and gave him to Vince and then they jumped in the sleigh, and sped off into the darkness.

Santa and Snowflake were out late walking and jumped out of the way of the speeding sleigh just in time. When seeing that it was Jinx and Jangle, their mouths dropped open and they watched them until they were out of sight. Snowflake looked at Santa and said, “Umm…Santa, shouldn’t they be…”  Santa held up his hand, ” Don’t say a word.” and in silence they went back to walking. Santa stared straight ahead wondering if he was getting too old for this job of being in charge of crazy elves!

Splat! Went the Pie!

I thought we would take a peek into what Jinx and Jangle are up too today. If you haven’t read any of my Jinx and Jangle stories before, here is a link to the last one. A Pancake Morning at the North Pole

Sometimes you just need to take a break from the seriousness of life and have a little fun. I hope you enjoy another tale about the crazy elves Jinx and Jangle.

Splat! Went the Pie!

Jinx and jangle had been working on some new toys for the past couple weeks. They were beginning to get tired, especially Jinx. The work day was almost over and Jinx could barely keep his eyes open any longer. At last Candy Cane rang the bell and it was time for the work day to end.

When they left the building and walked outside the cold wind went right through Jinx making him shiver. He had to admit  though that it did help to wake him up!  He quickened his pace to get back to his house.

“Hey Jinx, Jinx, stay there for a minute, I want to talk to you.”   Santa was calling to him as he came walking towards him.

Jinx had no choice but to wait, for you didn’t just walk away from Santa Clause! He stood there shivering, thinking he should have dressed warmer for the day. Santa soon was there and Jinx could see Santa’s breath as he talked.

“I would like you to plan the games for our Friday game night this week, okay? ”

Jinx smiled, Santa was actually putting him in charge of something, that was very cool. Sure he could plan some simple games. How hard could it be? With those thoughts running through his head he smiled and said,

“Sure Santa! I would love to!”

“Thanks Jinx, that is great! I look forward to seeing what games you come up with.”

Jinx had a thought, ” Could Jangle help me?”

Santa chuckled as he replied,  “Sure, the two of you can work on it together, they always say, 2 heads are better than 1.”

Jinx watched as Santa walked away and then went to find Jangle to tell him how they needed to put their brains together and get busy. This was going to be fun, he was sure of it. They finally had a turn to plan a game night, what could possibly go wrong?

Jangle was delighted to help Jinx out in planning games. They had fun and laughter as they planned and looked forward to Friday night coming.

Friday finally came and all the elves were excited for a fun night of games. Everyone was chattering in the game room until Jinx whistled for everyone’s attention.  When that didn’t work Santa let out his hearty “Ho! Ho! Ho!” and all the elves quieted down, for when Santa spoke everyone listened!

“Welcome to another exciting game night! Tonight’s games were planned by Jinx and Jangle, so please give them your attention as they explain the rules.”

Jinx thanked Santa and then spoke to the crowd of elves.

“Jangle and I had a lot of fun planning these games and we hope you enjoy them. You will need a sharp wit to beat them so good luck!  Oh and there may be some surprises that pop up in the games so beware!” Jinx laughed and then went on to explain each of the games and how they worked.

After all the rules were explained the first game started.  Jinx and Jangle watched with a twinkle in their eyes as their friends tried to guide each other through a big maze that they had made. The thing that made it harder was that each team of 2 had to answer questions before making a turn. If they didn’t answer right they had to go backwards. There also was a twist, where sometimes they had to ask a question, but it couldn’t be just any question it had to be the right one.

Oh Jangle and Jinx were laughing now. Frosty was the first one to get the surprise pie in the face! He turned the corner and “SPLAT!” Santa had been the one hiding around the corner. He loved the idea about throwing the pies. Santa was a jolly guy after all!

The merriment continued throughout the evening. After using their thinking skills in the maze, they used their physical skills in bouncing on a trampoline and seeing who could jump the highest.

Jangle turned to Jinx and said, “I think the night is going pretty well, don’t you?”

“Absolutely!” replied Jinx, with a mischievous glint in his eye.

“CLANG!”  Santa had came up behind Jinx and clanged some cymbals together making Jinx jump!

“Hey Jinx, I think you won the high jump and you didn’t even need a trampoline!”  Jangle patted him on the back as the other elves were laughing and cheering for him.

“Guess what! That means you win the prize! Remember the prize that you came up with?” Jangle asked, with a smirk on his face.

Santa let out a hearty chuckle as the other elves were waiting curiously to see what the prize was. Jinx’s face was getting red as he realized that Jangle and Santa had pulled one over on him.

“Splat!” right in the face!

“Does the whip cream taste good Jinx?”, Candy Cane called out from the laughing crowd.

At the end of the evening everyone agreed that it had been a wonderful night. Jangle and Jinx were cleaning up with help from Candy Cane and Frosty.

Candy Cane and Frosty were still laughing at Jinx about the whip cream prize. Frosty was laughing even harder since he had been one that had got hit by the whip cream in the maze game.

“What goes around, comes around Jinx!” said Frosty.

Jinx had to join in on the laughter as they all finished up and walked out into the night. Oh it had been a fun night. Time with crazy friends was always fun, even if things sometimes caught you by surprise and went “Splat!”

Sparkling in the North Pole

It was a beautiful day at the North Pole. Everyone seemed to be feeling sparkly today. Smiles were on their faces and there was a extra bounce in their step. Jangle was whistling as he worked at repairing their sled.

The little birthday adventure that he and Jinx and their friends had gone on had been fun,  in spite of the little mishap with the sleigh. It was nothing too serious that couldn’t be fixed. Santa just shook his head when he heard the story.  Jangle chuckled to himself as he wondered what Santa’s reaction would have been if he had known about the other mishap that had happened,  Jinx’s little mishap. Oh you could always count on an adventure when Jinx was around.

One of the best things about their birthday adventure was the food. The Cinnamon Roll cake had been so delicious. It was so moist and sweet. Jangle’s tongue still tingled when he thought of it. Chef Salvo had outdone himself! Its no wonder he was Santa’s personal chef.

Jangle wasn’t sure what Jinx was getting into today. He had said that he wanted to challenge his mind with something new. It could be interesting to see what he came up with as  a way to exercise his mind.

Later today they were going to go get some physical exercise by taking a hike. Jinx may run some but Jangle preferred to walk, he wasn’t as much of a runner as Jinx was.

Jangle had finally finished fixing the sleigh. Had reattached the part and repainted it. Now it just had to dry. He stood up and started putting everything away when he heard Jinx yelling.

“Look out Jangle!”

Jangle turned to look and couldn’t believe what he saw.  Jinx was on ice skates! He had never seen Jinx ice skate before and why was he out here and not on the pond ice skating?

“I can’t stop!” yelled Jinx

Crash! He hit the sleigh and crack went the new part that Jangle had just put on.

Jinx was muttering to himself as he sat up and took his skates off.

“Well I guess skating may not be for me.  Those Olympic skaters make it look so easy! Sorry about breaking off a piece of the sleigh that you had just fixed.”

Jangle started to say that Jinx could fix it this time and then he busted out laughing when he looked at Jinx’s face. It was all red! All red from the fresh coat of paint that Jangle had just put on the sleigh.

The Birthday Surprise

This is another story in my Jinx and Jangle series. If this is the first time you are reading about Jinx and Jangle, they are Elves at the North Pole. They are very unique elves, you never know what may happen when they are around. My last Jinx and Jangle story was The North Pole Olympics.

“Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday…”  Jangle opened his eyes to see his room filled with several elves and Santa.  They all were singing as loudly as they could with Jinx being the loudest one. When they sang the last line there was a huge Clang!! They all had been hiding cymbals behind their backs, ready for the exact moment to smash them together. Well Jangle was definitely awake now,  no question about that!  His heart may be pounding a little faster too.  The elves were laughing and Santa’s deep, cheery laugh was easily heard.

“When you are dressed and ready, come into the dining hall, there is a special omelet made by Chef Salvo for you. ” Jinx told him. Everyone knew that Chef Salvo was the absolute best Chef around, he was Santa’s personal Chef.

It didn’t take long for Jangle to get ready knowing that, his taste buds were already salivating. He was over at the dining Hall in no time and wasn’t disappointed. His omelet was seasoned just right with the perfect hot sauce on top of it.

“What are the plans for today?” asked Jangle when he and Jinx and 2 of their other friends were the only ones left in the dining room.

“What about we all go out for a little adventure?” replied Jinx.

“Sounds great to me!”

Snowflake looked at Jinx and said, ” What kind of adventure?”

“Well we will find out once we have it, but I think it will be great!”

One couldn’t help to get caught up in Jinx’s enthusiasm so Snowflake said that he was in and Frost decided why not. Any adventure with Jinx and Jangle was bound to be exciting, for you never knew what may happen, especially if it was Jinx planing the adventure. When his wheels start turning you never know what he may come up with.

Jinx had a picnic basket filled with all kinds of tasty food. He had kindly asked Chef Salvo earlier in the week if he would prepare a special basket for a special birthday adventure.

They all headed outside to the stables where Jinx and Jangle’s team of reindeer were. The reindeer were all smiling as they tried to sing Happy Birthday to Jangle.  Jangle looked at Jinx and the others as they all tried to be polite while the reindeer sang.  Jangle was thinking that the clanging cymbals might have been better. He noticed the smirk on the tricky reindeer’s face. He was pretty confident that he was the one singing the loudest and the most out of tune one.

When they ended Jangle thanked them and told them he was excited about the adventure today. They all nodded in agreement, for they were always ready to go somewhere.

Jangle and Jinx and their friends climbed into the sleigh and they took off. Suddenly Jinx pulled on the reins bringing the sleigh to an abrupt halt. Jangle, Frost and Snowflake all flew forward and back again.

“Perhaps we would be better off if we walked, “, said Snowflake.

“Maybe”, chimed in Frost.

“Sorry! But I forgot something.”

They watched Jinx get out of the sleigh and run back to the dining hall.  He had left the special basket of food right by the door!

He handed it over to Jangle as he got in the sleigh.

“Make sure you hang on tight to that. Who knows where this adventure may take us, but at least we can depend on having great food!”

They took off again as Snowflake and Frost started singing ” Happy Birthday” once more.

Jinx chimed in and Jangle just shook his head, what a day this may turn out to be!

Under the Sea

Tianna was enjoying her day, swimming around in the crystal blue sea. She never got tired of living in her underwater paradise.  There was such a vast array of colorful fish and plants. Any color that you could imagine.

Swimming on the back of a emerald green sea turtle was always a treat. As was catching a ride on the back of her shiny, silvery dolphin friends.

Presently she was having a fun chat with her buddy Sammy, a bright golden fish. He always seemed to be happy.  He would swim around making sure to turn everyone’s frowns upside down.

As they were chatting about Charlie the crab’s birthday coming up they were interrupted by a big splash!  The strangest sight appeared before their eyes.

There were 2 elf like creatures tumbling down through the water.  All Sammy and Tianna could do was stare in shock, they were transfixed.  The creatures were thrashing about so much that Tianna couldn’t get a good look at them. She did know though that they were in trouble. They didn’t look capable of breathing underwater for too long!

Out of the corner of her eye she spied Ollie the Octopus moving slowly towards them and from the other direction she saw a group of jellyfish on their way as well. Tianna knew there wasn’t time to waste. She grabbed her special pink seashell and put it up to her mouth as she called her friends, the dolphins.

They appeared in front of her in a flash and Tianna pointed out to them the tumbling elf like creatures.  They quickly swam underneath them lifting them and Tianna up to the surface.

They broke through the water and the 2 creatures took a breath as they clung to the dolphins.

“Wow! I must be dreaming! Jinx are you okay?”

Jinx didn’t reply for he was still catching his breath.

The dolphins gently landed them on the sand and Tianna thanked them as they dove back into the dazzling sea. Jinx and Jangle just stared in wide eyed disbelief.

Jinx was breathing fine now, but was he really awake? Was that really a mermaid in front of him? They weren’t real, were they?  Jangle was talking a mile a minute to her and she just kept cocking her head from side to side as if she was trying to understand.

Jinx thought he would chime in and try to communicate with her by talking slower.  It didn’t work though for as the girl and Jangle looked at him they burst out laughing. Jangle was totally confused, what was so funny?  Then he felt it, his whole head was covered in seaweed.

“Hey Jinx, you have hair now. How does it feel? Very unique hair if I may say. Never saw emerald green hair before.”

Jinx just shook his head at a loss for words, as the seaweed was falling to the sand.

Tianna kept laughing, she had never seen such unique creatures before. She wished that she could understand what they were babbling on about.  One was making faces at the other as he kept picking the seaweed from off his head.

They looked like they had fully recovered from their tumble into the sea, so she figured she would dive back in.  She couldn’t wait to tell Sammy more about the 2 mysterious, babbling creatures.  You never knew what was going to happen when you lived under the sea.

Jangle opened his eyes. He still felt groggy and he banged his hand on the reindeer alarm clock. He banged it so hard that it fell on the floor. The sound of it hitting the floor woke up Jinx.

They didn’t say much as they sleepily got ready for the day. When they were more awake Jangle looked at Jinx.

“Hey Jinx, I had the strangest dream about … wait a minute … what is that on your head?”

Jinx reached up to touch his head as a a emerald green piece of seaweed fell to the floor.
