To Dive or Not to Dive?

This story follows Wednesday’s post, here is a link, in case you missed it. Surprise at Sea

***************************

Tanya arrived back at her cottage and her mind was whirling. What had she just agreed to do? Why did she agree to meet Patrick for lunch? She did love seafood, but she is sure that he will expect to engage in conversation during the meal! Is she supposed to just keep her mouth stuffed with food the whole time?

She had nothing against Patrick, he seemed like a nice enough guy, but what if he asked questions about where she was from and her life before she moved here ? So far she had been pretty good at managing to avoid people and those possible questions, but today she may have to come with up something.

What should she wear? Nothing fancy, but she did want to look nice. Not that she was trying to impress Patrick at all, though he was kind of cute, but …. no, she couldn’t complicate her life with a romance right now!

Her eyes fell on her coral sundress hanging in her closet. That would be fine. She had some cute seashell earrings that would go perfectly with it and a pair of white sandals. It didn’t take her very long to get ready.  Taking a look in the mirror she took a deep breath, she may look put together on the outside, but her stomach was all in knots.

She wouldn’t have agreed to lunch if he wouldn’t have mentioned about finding gold in the cave! That is what made her turn her head and change her mind! Gold! Like the gold that Luke had shared with his friends. The gold that he had given to the “Chicken Man” ? Tanya’s thoughts began to drift back to that night.

No, she couldn’t let herself go there, the past was in the past. She had to start thinking about what she was going to tell Patrick if he wanted to know about her. She grabbed her purse and got into her boat, deciding she would think as she rowed.

Patrick was standing at the entrance to the cafe when she arrived. He smiled when he saw her and she felt a warm feeling shoot through her.

“HI! I like the dress. ”

“Thank you” Tanya replied, at the same time wondering to herself if she should turn around and go back to her cottage.

She followed him to a little table for two out on the deck near the water.

She busied herself with looking at the menu.

When the waitress came, Tanya ordered some oyster stew with a crab sandwich and Patrick ordered  fried oysters.

Once the waitress left Tanya asked Patrick a question, not giving him a chance to ask her one first.

“So please do tell me more about this cave? ”

“Well, legend has it that a very long, long time ago there was a young, rich ruler. He had lots of gold, but was very greedy and scared that people would steal from him. In order to protect his gold he found this heart shaped cave and thought it would be the perfect place to hide his riches.”

Tanya leaned forward, with her interest growing. “Has anyone ever found the gold?”

Patrick smiled, “No one really knows. People have explored it the cave, but no one will tell if they found gold or not. Do you want to give it at try? It is a very big cave.”

Tanya was thinking of how nice it would be to have more gold. Oh she definitely had to check out this cave.

“My cousin and I explored the cave once several years ago.” Patrick said smiling.

Tanya felt like he was wanting her to ask if they found gold. She was very curious, but she wasn’t going to let him have that satisfaction.

“Sounds like a great adventure, I am up to it, when do we go?” Tanya replied with a coy smile as she raised her eyebrows.

Patrick’s cell phone started buzzing. He briefly looked at it and then back at Tanya.

“Sorry about that, I thought I had it on silent. It was a text from my cousin Luke. He is a farmer, just came in from milking his favorite cow, Betsy,  and wanted to chat. I tell ya, she is one strange cow, but my cousin really likes her. I just have never quite met a cow like her. He also has a chicken that he says talks, have you ever heard of such a thing. I think my cousin may be a little cuckoo…” he said, as he was laughing.

“Oh my,  here I am gabbing away and  you are sitting there not looking too good. Are you okay? You are looking a little pale.”

Tanya was shaking as she replied, “Umm…sorry.. can you excuse me for a moment?”

Patrick’s eyes followed her as she walked quickly to the restroom. He sat still for a moment and then picked up his phone and texted back his cousin Luke.

Surprise at Sea

Tanya listened to the waves as she was on her boat. She hoped that she was remembering Patrick’s directions accurately when he had told her about the location of the heart shaped cave. It was a beautiful day to be out on the water. The sky was a lovely azure blue and she was feeling good. She was ready to go exploring under the sea.

What was that sound interrupting the peacefulness of the sea? Tanya looked and saw a speeding boat coming her way. The boat was huge and they were coming so fast, like they didn’t even see her!

Patrick couldn’t get that new girl out of his mind. The town was small and it wasn’t like they had new people come into town very much, so it hadn’t been hard to spot her when he had first seen her. She had made about 3 trips into town so far and each time he tried to talk to her and get to know her a bit. She really wasn’t a talker. It was like pulling teeth to get any words out of her, but she didn’t strike him as the shy type. He was thinking that there  was another reason she was being quiet. He couldn’t pinpoint it, but he was intrigued and wanted to keep talking to her.

Her eyes had lit up when he was talking about the undersea cave to her. it was the first time that she really appeared interested in anything he was saying.  Perhaps next time he saw her he would invite her out on his boat with him. Maybe being out on the open sea with the calming waves would help her feel more at ease and perhaps conversation could flow more smoothly.

There was nothing he liked more than being out on his boat on the crystal blue shining water. The weather was perfect today, he was glad that he had decided to come out today.

What was that up ahead? It looked like someone had fallen out of their boat and was hanging onto it!

As he got closer to the boat, he was shocked to see that it was Tanya! She might have been really quiet in town but she was sure saying a lot of words now! When his boat got up right beside her, her face turned a shade of pink as recognition dawned on her.

“Do you need some help?” he asked? She shook her head as she managed to climb into her boat.

“Thanks, but I will be fine, though my plans are ruined for the day. Thanks to the speed boat that almost hit me, all my diving gear fell into the water when the boat flipped!”

“Oh, you were going diving today, alone?”

Tanya gave him a look, “Yes, alone, just me and the sea.”

“You do know that is not  really safe, right? Especially from what I have gathered from you before, you aren’t a real experienced diver, correct?”

Tanya grabbed her paddles and started to row away.

“Hey, not so fast! We can get you some new gear, and I would be glad to take you some time. Why don’t you go home and get out of your wet clothes and meet me for lunch later in town at the Pearl of the Sea Cafe? They have the best oysters!”

Tanya shook her head, “No thanks, I …”

Patrick interrupted, ” I could tell you about the legend of the heart shaped cave? There is believed to be hidden gold down there.”

Hidden gold… thought Tanya. That reminded her of something! She smiled as she looked at Patrick. “I am feeling rather hungry after my little spontaneous swim”, she rolled her eyes, but Patrick caught the glint of a smile.

“I will meet you there at 1.”

“Sounds good!” Patrick replied, as he watched her row away. He was going to add that he hoped she managed to stay in the boat this time, but thought again and had bit his tongue. He wondered what lunch would be like. What was it about her that intrigued him?  He usually kept to himself, but here he had gone and invited her to lunch! If they were going to be diving together though, he may as well start getting to know her. What was she thinking attempting to dive alone? How crazy was she? He shook his his head. How crazy was he, at wanting to get to know her? He guessed that answer remained to be seen.

Adventure Awaits!

The sun streamed through Tanya’s window waking her up early. She looked forward to early mornings. She felt more peaceful in the morning, at night her brain would start overthinking and fears would creep in. Then sometimes she would have the craziest dreams.

A nice, fresh cup of coffee or blueberry tea while she sat outside breathing in the sea air, chased away her night fears. Then she would stretch and get ready to go for a jog. Tanya wanted to stay in shape, and running helped her deal with her anxiety when unpleasant  memories flashed in her mind.

This remote island was the perfect place for her to calm her spirit. She had been to town a couple times now. Still tried to keep a low profile, and not talk to anyone more than she had to while she was there. For the most part it seemed to work, she would just politely say “Hi” and everyone would exchange pleasantries with her and  then go about their business.

Everyone but this one mysterious man, that is. His name was Patrick and he was very friendly.  He always seemed to bump into her when she was in town.  He wore a blue baseball cap on his head. The hair that she did see poke out from under his baseball camp was a nice chestnut brown. It matched his dark brown eyes. He was pleasant but he wasn’t content to just stop at “Hi”, he asked her questions every time that he saw her, trying to get to know her. She didn’t want to be rude, so she would patiently listen to him as he told her about the town. He also talked about the sea. He loved to take his boat out on it. He told her that there was a cave under the sea that he was anxious to explore. The opening of it was told to be shaped like a heart. That peaked her curiosity but she didn’t let on that it did. After a little while, he bid her good day and tipped his hat as he excused himself. She watched him as she walked away and she wondered if she could find a store that sold diving equipment.

Today excitement and a little bit of nervousness stirred inside of her.  She had found a store with diving equipment and had practiced using it for some short dives. She felt like she was ready now to go and find the cave that Patrick talked about. The thought that perhaps it would be wise for her to wait to go with someone did enter her mind, but she pushed it away. What could possibly go wrong?

One Step at a Time

What had she got herself into? She woke up with a feeling of great anticipation, but now as the time drew closer her courage was starting to be pushed aside by butterflies.  They were fluttering about inside of her, causing her to almost spill her cup of coffee, which she had just poured.

The clock said 8 am, when Gracie raised her head and looked at it on the wall. She checked her watch, unfortunately the broken clock was right this time. It was 8 am and she would hear the door bell ring any second.

Gracie took a deep breath, out the window she saw Josie’s car pull up. She was here, there was no backing out now. Though she was starting to feel a little sick.

“Ding dong!’

Gracie opened the door with a shaky smile.

“Hi Gracie, are you ready? Isn’t it a gorgeous morning! I can’t wait to get going!”

Josie has always been a morning person. Gracie remembered when they were teenagers, and she wanted to sleep in on a Saturday morning, but the phone usually rang bright and early with Josie on the other end. She would be chattering away at how Gracie couldn’t sleep her day away,  there were adventures to have. Life with Josie never was boring!

“I am as ready as I am going to be. How sure again are you that this is safe?”  Gracie asked.

Josie laughed, as she put her arm around Gracie, “No worries! It will be fine. Have I ever steered you wrong?”

Gracie raised her eyebrows, as she said, ” Well there was one time in our Junior year when…”

Josie interrupted, “Oh yeah, that time, but hey… in the end all turned out okay.”

They laughed together as they remembered the look on Mike’s face, as his  runaway car was headed for the creek.

They chatted some on their way, calming Gracie’s nerves.

“Here we are!” Josie said, as she parked on the gravel side of the road, “Grab your backpack and lets go.”

The trail that they were hiking was a nice flat trail, with lovely trees lining the path. Gracie enjoyed the trail, she just was worried about where the trail was taking them.

After a too short 15 minute walk, they had reached their destination, and Gracie looked up as her stomach hopped into her throat. “It it is quite high!” she stammered to Josie.

“Look how beautiful it is! I am telling you the view from the top will be worth it, I promise!”

She grabbed Gracie’s hand, “You can do this. I will be right by your side the whole way up the mountain.”

Gracie felt a surge of adrenaline go through her. Yes, she could do this,  she had never attempted rock climbing before, but there was a first time for everything. What could go wrong, Josie promised they would be home by suppertime, and she said she was treating. Gracie could already taste the sweet chocolate lava cake with caramel icing in her mouth. She squeezed Josie’s hand and said, “Lets go!”

Adventure in the Woods

When I wrote A Snowy Day Surprise  for Wednesday’s post, I wasn’t planning on having a Part 2, but sometimes you just never know.  Over the past couple days since then I have gained some inspiration, so here is hoping that you will enjoy Part 2! I mean, I couldn’t just leave Frank and George dozing forever on a log in the snowy woods, could I? They may get frostbite, so I had to save them.

Adventure in the Woods

Frank opened his eyes and stretched, accidentally bumping George, which caused him to fall off the log into the snow.

“Oops, sorry about that!” Frank said, though he was fighting back laughter at the same time at George’s shocked expression to find himself lying in the snow.

“Here let me help you up.”said Frank, holding out his hand to him.

George brushed himself off and they both stood there for a few minutes wondering what they should do. George turned to Frank and said, “Do you think we should continue to look for that jackalope, or is it a lost cause?”

“He is probably long gone by now,  I would say its hopeless, but we can always keep a look out for him as we head back.” Frank replied. “I am feeling rather cold now, so lets get to moving.”

They walked and talked for awhile and then Frank grew silent, and so they walked in silence for awhile until George spoke up. “Are you feeling OK? ”

“Yes, why?” Frank asked.

“Well you went from talking a lot to just giving short answers to my statements, to not talking at all! Its like you are acting all moody on me.”

“Nope! Not moody, but tell me, didn’t we pass that tree before?”

George stared at him, “You didn’t just ask that?”

“Yes, I did, did you not hear me correctly?” Frank replied.

“Someone is moody.” George muttered to himself.

“I heard you!” replied Frank. “I am not moody! But, I do believe we passed that tree before.”

George smacked his head with his hand. ” Umm..in case you haven’t noticed, this is the woods, and there are LOTS of trees in the woods, what makes you think we passed that specific tree before?”

Frank rolled his eyes, “Maybe because of the yellow X it has on its trunk!”

George turned around and went back to look at the other side of the tree, and he saw the yellow X. “Oh, hmmm….didn’t notice that before.”

“Well that’s obvious,” said Frank, and they stopped walking, and stared at the tree.

“So are you saying that we are walking in circles?”

“I think so,” said Frank, “We have passed that tree 3x now. I been counting. I think you need to get out your compass, so we can get ourselves turned in the right direction.”

George dug in his pockets, pulled out a few coins and a few marbles, but no compass.

“Guess I forgot my compass this morning.” George said softly.

“Oh now what are we supposed to do! How do we know whether to go left or right?

They stared at each other feeling clueless.

In the distance they heard singing and they saw a girl walking towards them. She had on a red wool cape and was carrying a basket. When she got close enough to them , Frank called out.

“Excuse me Miss, could you help us please? We seem to be hopelessly lost. ”

The girl smiled, and asked them where they wanted to go.

When they told her she gladly said, ” I am headed that exact same direction, you can follow me.”

George and Frank breathed a sigh of relief, for they weren’t too fond of being stuck in the woods on a snowy night. They already felt like there hands and feet were turning blue, with as long as they had been outside.

They had a nice chat with the girl in the red cape as they walked. She was going to visit her grandmother, she told them.

“Here we are!” Frank and George saw the house just ahead and the girl pointed to the path beside it. “Just keep following that path and it will lead you out of the woods.” she told them.

“Thank you very much!” they replied, as they shook her hand.

They said goodbye and took off down the path, thinking of a nice hot meal that they would soon have, when they heard growling behind them.

Frank turned around, and his eyes got round  like saucers. “Run George, Run!”

The wolf was gaining speed and nipped at George’s heels, which made him jump and run even faster, as he gasped for breath.

They saw a barn straight ahead and dashed into it closing the door behind them! Falling back against the door they slumped to the floor with their hearts still beating rapidly.

“We made it!” gasped Frank.

“Yes!” said George.

“MOO!” went the cows, causing Frank and George to jump and stumble head first into the water trough.

They lifted their heads out of the water and gave each other a pitiful look, as Frank said, “Today is just not our day!”

“MOO!” went the cows!

It All Started with A Letter

The plane was landing. Samantha had dozed off, but was now awakened by the announcement to buckle up. Still clutching the folded envelope in her hand, Samantha buckled up, and closed her eyes once more, as the plane made its descent. She tried to calm the butterfly party that was going on in her stomach right now.  She hadn’t been nervous about the long flight, but she was nervous now about what was to come.  About where this journey may take her. The flight was the easy part, now very soon, her real journey would begin.

Samantha smiled at the stewardess who saw her off the plane, but her thoughts were miles away. Carrying her 2 pieces of luggage she entered the airport and headed towards the baggage claim area. People were talking all around her, but all she could hear were the loud thoughts in her head. The fact that she really was going to go through with this. That she had made it here, and now all she had to do was pick up her rental car and she would be off on the next leg of her journey.

She squeezed the hot pink envelope in her hand once again. Samantha had read and re-read the letter so many times that she had the lines memorized, but she felt she needed to look at it once more, to see the words in black and white,  to assure herself that this wasn’t a dream!

Emotions were welling up inside her, thinking of all the recent events that had brought her to this day. One day she is sitting in her cozy recliner at home, with her tiger orange striped cat laying on her feet and then there is a knock on her door. A special delivery for a Miss. Samantha Elkono . She signed for the certified letter and just like that her life was suddenly changing.

Samantha spotted her suitcase coming. She could easily pick it out because of the hot pink ribbons that she had tied around it. Grabbing it off the turnstile, she walked to the car rental place, hoping it wouldn’t take too long.

Fortunately the line wasn’t long at the car rental desk and she was opening the door to her sapphire blue Chevy Cruze in no time at all. She sank into the seat with a smile on her face, this was it, her adventure was about to begin!  First though, she needed to get some breakfast. Her stomach was reminding her that it had been a long night! The lady at the car rental place had told her of a 24 hour diner that was open close to the airport, so that is where she was headed.

Turning on the radio she was going through stations trying to find some tunes to start her day. She wasn’t usually an early morning riser, but she had to admit that the sky was looking amazing right now as the sun was slowly rising.

Samantha stopped searching as she heard Cat Steven’s voice singing “Morning has Broken”. Her heart was full. She gazed into the brilliant orange sunrise. Morning was breaking, and who knew what lied ahead, but starting off the day with some overeasy eggs and strawberry crepes sounded good to her right now.

Power of Words

Words can mean so much and I am not talking about the big, elaborate ones. I am referring to simple words .. words from the heart. They really are powerful and we all walk around with that power in our grasp every second of the day. Who will be touched by your words today?

Writing words for a story is fun, to see the story come more and more alive right in front of you. Working on “The Odessa Chronicles” was quite the adventure, as Colin and I saw the personalities of the characters emerge.  We didn’t expect them to grab hold of our hearts the way they did, stirring our hearts with emotion.  The power of words is strong.

My Mom shared words with me this past weekend that stirred my heart and I wanted to pass it on. A friend of hers that she hadn’t seen in a while stopped her in the grocery store. Her face was shining and she was all excited. She proceeded to tell my Mom about how much she loved “The Odessa Chronicles” , how fun the characters are and how she so wants Colin and I to write a sequel. That she has enjoyed the book so much that she read it the whole way through twice now!

Those words didn’t take long for her to say, but oh the the power that was in them. They made my heart soar! We have said that “The Odessa Chronicles” is for children of all ages, and she has proved the truth behind that.

When I shared about the “little giant” in my blog post yesterday, I was talking about one of our youngest fans of “The Odessa Chronicles.” He may be little, but his words have  touched the hearts of Colin and I over and over again! Jaxon is his favorite character and he has excitedly told us about his love for our book many times. His sincerity comes through and he is just so sweet as he has thanked us for writing. Words have power.

Now we have heard from one of our oldest fans. She may be 80 years old, but my Mom said how her eyes just danced when sharing about her love for the book.

“For children of all ages”, it definitely is! You are never too old to let your imagination go and to take a visit to Moonbeam Farm!

Don’t take my word for it, take it from the the lady with the dancing eyes!

The Secret Mission:(Part 3)

If you missed Part 2 of “The Secret Mission”, here is the link. The Secret Mission (Part 2) , and now for the conclusion. Enjoy!

Frank and George had been at the North Pole for 3 days and they were finally beginning to thaw out and get used to the freezing temperatures.  They had hit it off with Jinx an Jangle and Snowball. They were alike in so many ways it was crazy, almost like they were meeting clones of themselves, besides the fact that they looked very different.

This morning they were treated to another delightful meal from Chef Salvo and their stomach were nice and full. They were all ready to embark on their little journey. Though with a full stomach, Snowball really wanted to take a nap.

They were at last headed out on their secret mission. It would involve a fairly long sleigh ride to the secret spot. Santa Clause had given them a map to follow. He said they would know when they got to the spot, for there would be a sign.

As they were walking to the sleigh, Jinx and Jangle were arguing over who should drive it. Frank and George remembered witnessing them driving the sleigh into the snowbank and were thinking that perhaps they would be safer walking. Only problem was that they really didn’t want to walk a long way in the cold. They were intent on listening to Jinx and Jangle that they didn’t notice Snowball.

Snowball hurried past them and disappeared.

“So how about I flip a coin to decide who drives?” asked Jinx.

“Okay, that sounds fair, I call heads.” said Jangle.

Jinx flipped it, but missed catching it and it landed in the snow. He bent down to pick it up. After he brushed it off he said, ” Its tails! I win!”

Jangle sighed, but then he  heard, ” No, you don’t, I do, hop in and lets go!”

Jinx, Jangle, Frank and George turned their heads and to their surprise they saw Snowball sitting in the driver’s seat.

“C’mon slowpokes get in!”

They all laughed, and got in. Jinx barely had his other leg in before Snowball zoomed off.  He hoped they would safely make it to where they needed to go!

George had volunteered to read the map to Snowball, but Frank said no. “Remember the last time you tried reading the map, you ended up getting us lost. We ended up in a small town and took part in the carnival that night.”

George nodded his head, ” Oh yeah, the carnival, how could we forget that.”

“Carnivals are fun!” Jangle said, “You guys were lucky! We have a North Pole Olympics event here every year which is a lot of fun too!”

“Hopefully next year someone will remember to Hard boil the eggs!” said Jinx, looking at Jangle, causing Jangle to turn a little red.

“The carnival was fun, but we ended up being at the Dunk Tank Booth!” George told them. Jinx, Jangle and Snowball had a good laugh at that.

They continued chatting away, until George called out, “Hey, I think we just passed the sign!”

“What sign?”, they all asked.

“The one we just passed!” said George. “I think it was where we were supposed to stop. I thought you were reading the map, Frank?”

Frank sheepishly admitted that he had been distracted by chatting.

“Hold on everyone!’  Snowball shouted, and he made a huge donut in the snow and headed back from the direction they had just come from.

“There it is!” said Jinx.

Snowball skidded to a stop and besides Jinx’s hat flying off his head into the snow, everyone else managed to stay in the sleigh.

“That must be the sign that Santa was talking about. It says, “You are Here!”

They all got out, stretched and took a look around.

“I guess that we now can open up the envelope that Santa gave us, to explain what we are supposed to be doing out here.”

“Build a snow fort and make 400 snowballs!”

“400 snowballs! This is our top secret mission!??” everyone exclaimed!

They all looked at each other in bewilderment and Jinx spoke up. “Something smells fishy to me, like maybe a conspiracy going on. 400 snowballs is A LOT!”

“Wow, you are a genius!” said Snowball, ” I wonder if there is something Magical about that number?”

“Hmmm….” and it was silent, while they all were thinking.

“Can’t think of anything, but I sure am feeling hungry for some more of Chef Salvo’s magic chocolate cake!” said Snowball.

“Well we better get busy, for the letter also states that Santa will be here at 4:00pm and we need to be done by then.” said Jangle.

They all shook their heads, still confused, but got busy building and rolling.

At 3:45 they were all rolling the last 5 snowballs. They had been chatting away, but now all that was heard was some sighing and some  “…mmm…” groans! They stacked up the last 5 balls and then all sank to the ground feeling very sleepy.

Their eyes instantly opened when they heard a lot of commotion around them and felt snowballs pelting them.

Everyone was gathered around having a huge snowball battle and they were all right in the center of it!

Then they heard Santa’s hearty “HO-HO” as he said, “Secret Mission declared a success!” and the pelting of snowballs began once again.

Frank looked at George, and said, “Do you get the feeling that the big boss is laughing right now? I am thinking this was a Special Payback Mission!”

“…mmm..” Frank couldn’t answer, as another  snowball had just hit him.

The Secret Mission (Part 2)

In case you missed Part 1 yesterday, here is a link. The Secret Mission

George’s head hit the desk. He looked up at the still broken clock. He knew a lot of time had passed since he was on the phone trying to straighten out a problem. He had decided to make the call over his lunch hour and it took up his lunch hour and more! Some days he longed to go back in time, before technology was so advanced. As nice as it was, it sure brought its share of headaches along with it.

The door opened and in walked Frank smiling. “Hey George, where were you? I was waiting for you to come out to the park, I am guessing the phone call didn’t go too well?”

George raised his head, looking at Frank.  Frank took one look and said,  “No worries, you don’t need to explain, I think I will just get to work now. Look at the bright side, tomorrow we will leave for our special assignment!”

The rest of the afternoon passed quickly and their boss came out to wish them well at teh end of the day.

“I hope everything goes smoothly for you guys! This is a pretty big adventure, may it be successful!” He shook their hands and they started walking towards the door. Then they heard him call out, ” Make sure you stay warm!” They heard him snickering as they closed the door behind them.

George and Frank walked in silence to their vehicles. Frank broke the silence. ” Well this definitely will be an adventure, guess its good that neither of us have agoraphobia!”

George couldn’t help but laugh as he shook his head and said, “Yes!”

Then he added, “I just wish that your word for today, “temerarious”, wouldn’t seem to fit so well.

Frank put his hand on George’s shoulder and said, “Think of the words that go along with that word, “Adventuresome”, “Daring”, and “Bold”. We are going to where not many go.

“Yes, we are, and you know there is another word that is a synonym for “temerarious”, “Foolhardy!”

Frank paused and said, “You have a point there, but the big boss has picked this special mission for us, so we have to go. You know how it goes, her wish is our command!”

George agreed and they both said how they would make the most of it, for one just never knew what could happen! Gotta embrace life, “Carpe Diem!”

They wished each other a good night and said they would meet at the airport at 7am sharp in the morning.

The next morning dawned bright and sunny, and Frank and George were feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed, after a good night’s rest. They had books along, prepared for the long flight ahead of them.

After traveling for awhile and dozing off and on between reading they started chatting.

“Do you remember the names of the 2 guys that we are supposed to meet at the airport?” asked Frank.

“I am thinking….They were very different names I know that. Was one Jingle perhaps? Yeah, I think it was Jingle and and Jinx. Who has names like Jingle and Jinx?”

Frank shook his head, “No, Jingle doesn’t sound right, I think it was Jangle.”

“Yes, that is correct!”, said George. “Jangle and Jinx! Hmm….looking forward to meeting them! They sound like interesting characters!”

“The boss really didn’t tell us much about them. She only said how we should hit it off with them and another one named Snowball. She said everything would make sense when they explained more to us.”  said Frank.

“I sure hope so, for right now it just seems kind of strange. I never heard of anyone called Snowball before either and remember, there is someone else called Candy Cane. Do you think they are spy names. Perhaps they have different identities like we do?” suggested George.

“The boss did mention that they helped with a very large mission. Apparently they worked hard all year long for a very special yearly event! She told us to just think about where we are going and that perhaps we would figure it out. But nothing has come to me so far, how about you?” asked Frank.

“Nope, you know how our boss can be a little delusional at times. I think this may be one of those times!” replied George.

Soon the announcement came over the loudspeaker, “Please buckle your seat belts and prepare for landing.”

George and Frank buckled their seat belts, hoping for a smooth landing.

The plane landed just fine and it didn’t take long for them to grab their bags and head out of the plane.

A blast of cold air hit them as they walked outside. “Welcome to the North Pole indeed!” said George.

There wasn’t much around when they walked out, all they could see was snow and ice and lots of space. The little airport looked deserted as they stood there, trying not to shiver too hard.

Soon they heard someone yelling. “There they are, straight ahead, slow down Jinx!”

They looked and saw a sled heading right for them at a high rate of speed. They quickly moved aside as they watched the sleigh plow into the snowbank.

“I am driving home Jinx!” said Jangle, as they got out of the sleigh.

Snowball emerged from the snowbank that he had been tossed into, and muttered how he should have stayed behind with Santa.

Frank and George blinked their eyes.  Were they really seeing what they thought they were seeing? They looked like elves, and had that one elf mentioned Santa?

Did their boss have “bats in her belfry”, or what? What this real?

They watched as 3 elves walked towards them with rosy cheeks and smiles, though Snowball still looked a little disgruntled.

“Welcome to the North Pole, Santa is looking forward to meeting you!” they said, as they extended their hands out to Frank and George.

Now You Know!

He found himself caught in another rain storm. The rain didn’t sour his mood though for he had a special date tonight with Dorindaur.

Drewsilla kept walking through the rain. He was running late, for he had to finish watching the great one and only Incredible Hulkaurus! He loved seeing him turn all green when he was about to show his incredible strength! There was always a special glow around him.

He kept walking and saw the Wise One, Lewsarus,  on the hill. d3dd3939d8674540571a6d6be0271c4a

Perhaps he should stop and visit with him for awhile, surely Dorindaur wouldn’t mind. She did at times question the Wise one’s wisdom, but than again it seemed all the ladies doubted his wisdom. Ever since that one time when he was leading them to a new land and he ended up getting lost.  He had asked Clarkcus for help, but he was no help. They just kept everyone wandering around in circles until finally Sacageraurus , helped guide everyone back home. She was then known to everyone as the wise explorer who helped Lewsaurus and Clarkrus find new land.

Drewsilla figured that a few minutes wouldn’t hurt. He stopped and they chatted, and what was supposed to be just a few minutes turned into an hour! They hadn’t been paying attention to the time, for they were engrossed in conversation and one thing at a time was enough for them to focus on.

Drewsilla picked up his speed, for now he was a little worried about how Dorindaur would react to him at being so late for their special date. At least he had remembered the flowers for her! Oh No! Where were the flowers? He must have put them down when he was talking to the Wise One. Oh ding dang dino rus, he was in trouble for sure!

He started to run even faster and then he saw her and his heart sank. She was waiting for him and she wasn’t looking very happy, not happy at all!

No one saw Drewsilla after that night. The story is told that Dorindaur sent him away for there is no fury like a dinosaur who is kept waiting for her date!

Apparently he went around asking to stay with his friends and they felt sorry for him but their wives wouldn’t let him stay. So all his friends decided to go with him. It was dark and very late, but they figured they would take a long walk and then return home once everyone had cooled down.

Legend has it that they never returned. It is believed that they got themselves lost and could not return home, for they did not have Sacajeweraurus to help them this time.

And now you know the true story of why the dinosaurs are extinct!
