Nellie Bly sounds like an amazing woman! And what a hard thing to do – challenge a system and expose things – and it is hard at any day and age !
—
Also – Mt Rushmore has so many crazy little tidbits
—
Also / not sure about the research with the flowers (like was the capsule also dissolved and maybe that gelatin helped feed the flower)
But I do know a great recipe for keeping fresh flowers extended
Clean the water every three days (or two) and pull out any dead or slimy stems
And here is the special part- add a big pinch of sugar and drop or two of bleach!
Yes, I usually don’t post the “facts ” that I find questionable, but this one made me laugh. The article did mention about the gelatin helping.
Thanks for the tip about keeping flowers fresh. That is one tip that I can do. 🙂
I just replied to Joy about it – but numerous times I clicked his links and they were all dead links
And that clicking is one way we bring malware
And when I asked the “Michael with two x’s” about it there was not a reply –
And in a way – when I see how easily he leaves links – first to a blog that is there and looks legit and then with dead links – it reminds me how easy it can be to befriend someone here on WP and link drop.
I just smell something off and have told them
It does seem a little strange that he reblogs so much. Also, he’s from Germany, and I have gotten a lot of spam from Germany. I wonder if I should block him.
I feel bad for speaking up – but also – why is he signing his name with two x’s.
And I am not he about blocking him but what worries me is the many folks that are going to click his links (like I did – and I did have some issues after that – but it could have been from anything right?)
Joy, I love two complimentary stories whose moral is beware of aggressive rabbit hordes, especially if you are short in stature AND watch out for monster penguins. Would it not be funny to see a waddling ten foot penguin coming at you. I think you could out run it, but you might pee in your pants laughing. Keith
LOL! Be grateful that I don’t share all the crazy facts I come across when looking for ones for my post. 😄 I just needed to have others …”smack their heads”… with me!
We were at Mt. Rushmore a couple of years ago. While we were there, I got an unusual profile shot in which George Washington’s face is the only one you can see.
When I was in college, someone told me that a birth control pill dissolved in water would make flowers grow better. I was silly enough to try it and killed a potted orchid.
I don’t believe the rose story. I think that’s a prank some prick is pulling on you.

It is documented in a British research journal, but …. yes, I have my doubts. 😄

I think the Oikos commenter (aka Michael XX) might be leaving spam links – just FYI

Interesting. He certainly reblogs a lot. But why do you think this?

Could just be coincidence. He reblogs every one of my posts, and I guess he does that with other blogs, also. Leaves me curious about his motivations.

Exactly – and I hope WP police are monitoring it. Because it seems sneaky to say the least

I don’t think so, he just reblogs a lot.

They were fun stories! I just couldn’t imagine running from little rabbits. But yes a 10 ft penguin I do think I would fun from. LOL!

Some truly fascinating thoughts but I’ll refrain from making any comments about the upright flower. 😉
