The heat may be sweltering … but I do love the bright sunshine that lights up the sky … it lights up the heart as well!
When you have turned around 2x, due to being lost …. You smile, as you finally are heading the right direction … Then you see the ROAD CLOSED sign ahead …. AND that’s why they make thick, soft steering wheel covers, so one doesn’t hurt their head.
When you can’t deny the shoulder pain any longer …. you schedule an appointment and hope for the best …
Shoulder pain, eh? Sorry to hear that. I’ve had arthroscopic surgery on one shoulder. The other shoulder doesn’t quite qualify for surgery, but it gives me problems. I hope all goes well with your doctor, and the condition isn’t serious.

Well wishes from me also. No bright sunshine here today, as it has been rainy this week, but that’s all right. It’s still summer 🙂

Thanks Meg, appreciate it.
Sorry about no sunshine, but yes, its still summer, way to look on the bright side. Feel free to send some rain here!

Thanks Tippy. What had you done to your shoulder? I don’t know what I did to it, I just know that its not right and its not getting any better, and a little worse. The pain started back in May. I thought perhaps I just strained a muscle or something and that it would go away.
The other day I had to try to get our Yorkie out from under my daughter’s bed to let her outside. She loves to hide under there. All I did was stretch out my left arm trying to reach her and oh sharp pain surged through it! I may have yelled. I am hoping its something easy to fix without surgery, but knowing me, it won’t be that way! Just glad its not my right arm. Sorry about your other shoulder.

Too much repetitive motion, delivering mail. Postal work requires a lot of repetitive motion. Too much repetitive motion, delivering mail. I seem to be repeating myself. Old habit from my workdays.
I’m wondering if you have bursitis. It often goes away on its on, but can take awhile. But I’m a quack doctor, so don’t take my word for it. I’ll bet a real doctor sends you to physical therapy.

Ouch, Tippy! I’m a retired USPS employee, but I was a data processing operator. However, I know what mail carriers go through having friends that still are. Sadly, shoulders and knees suffer the most among mail carriers.

Yeah, it’s a physical job, kind of rough on the body. I can’t say for sure that my job is what did my shoulders in, but I don’t know what else it could be. My knees give me a little trouble also, but not nearly as much as my shoulders. But fortunately, my back has held up fairly well.
Were you an LSM operator? I think that’s mostly an extinct job these days. So much of mail processing is automated nowadays.

No, I worked at the Beaumont, TX encoding center until they closed it, then transferred to Wichita, KS until they decided to close it. My only options then were a transfer to SLC or early retirement because I wasn’t physically able to do any of the jobs in the plant. So I retired and moved back to Texas, but I didn’t get in 20 years.

Darn, sounds like you got automated out of a job. Sorry that happened to you. I think Texas would be a nice place to retire to, though.

It is. I’m a born and raised Texan.

I never thought about delivering mail being hard on the shoulders but it makes sense for it is a lot of repititive motion, like you said, a couple times. 🙂
Bursitis could be since I don’t remember injuring it at all. The one strange thing about if is there is one thing that atays constant. The pain is worse at times than others but since this all started I have had a tingling sensation in my shoulder. Does bursitis cause that?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t know if bursitis causes tingling. Sounds kind of like nerve damage to me. Then again, drinking grape juice causes a tingling sensation in my throat. So Dr. Tippy Quack recommends that you don’t pour grape juice over your shoulder.
I have sometimes slept too long on one side, and woken up with bursitis. So I also suggest tossing and turning in bed. It keeps you limber.

Gee! And here I was thinking about pouring grape juice on it, thanks for the tip!
I do toss and turn a lot so no problem there!

Glad I could give you valuable medical advice, just in time.
Okay, probably the tossing and turning damaged your shoulder somehow. So stop tossing and turning so much.

Make it a big one. I have to pay off my med school debt. And my Cadillac.

Is it a gold Cadillac? I will be sure to put a lot of zeros on it!

Yes, it’s solid gold, with goose down, silk-lined upholstery, and the tires are filled with babies’ breath, for a smooth ride.

They actually don’t charge too much, when I rent them from our local nursery. But boy, you really have to work at it to get those little tykes to exhale hard, into the valve stems.

Hmm, I hadn’t considered coffee. How heavy is that coffee mug you’ve been lifting?

Haha! I hold it in my right hand! Nice try!

Then I’m guessing your left shoulder needs some exercise.

Oh so you are saying I should hold a coffee cup in each hand? 🙂

Exactly. But fill the coffee cups with tapwater. Coffee is poison.

Part of the reason it’s hard on the shoulders is that the carriers also have to sort the mail and load the truck before they even start their deliveries. Lots of repetitive motion and heavy lifting.

Here’s hoping the shoulder issue is easily remedied. PT may become your best friend for a while.
LikeLiked by 2 people
Thanks Monika and I would be happy if PT would fix it without any surgery needed. 🙂 I just am anxious to figure out what exactly is wrong, for I didn’t do anything dramatic to it. It just started hurting and is getting no better. Been to the chiropractor several times and to a massage therapist and no luck.

I feel for you. Been there, done that, earned the t-shirt. Ice was was my BFF especially after the pain and torture…erm, PT person worked me over. 😆

I totally relate to the second part, especially if I’m traveling at night or in unfamiliar areas. Thank goodness for my phone’s GPS these days because I am directionally challenged.

I am so sorry. No idea what brought it on?

Not really. Pretty much started out of the blue. It probably happened in my sleep. LOL!
When I was a teenager I woke up and my knee was really hurting. It was hard to walk! Went to the Dr and here my kneecap had fully attached itself to the side of my knee! No clue how it happened! I wasn’t into sports. Had no big fall. The Dr finally decided that it must have been something that was gradually happening over time.

Oh dear…as many times as I have dislocated my knees…two knee surgeries…OY. I wasn’t even an athlete, either. MANY dislocations, mostly the left one but, the right one went out a few times. YIKES. I used to get light-headed and nearly pass out 😠😡🤬🤢🤮😭
I am so sorry…for both body parts. We are falling apart…😳😫

OUCH! On you going through many times. I can understand about almost passing out. So painful!! When my daughter was 3 she jumped on my knee as my leg was stretched out straight. I could not speak! I literally grabbed my husband’s arm who was next to me, making him look. In the ER the doc thought it would need surgery, but he managed to pop it back into place.
Thanks Vic! ❤

Thanks! Yes, it makes me a little crazy when I don’t know why something is hurting. Would be nice to at least have an exciting story to tell of how I got hurt. LOL!

I know what you mean. I once tore ligaments in my knee, requiring surgery when I was painting my house. That sounded so lame I didn’t want to tell people.

Oh gosh! Sounds painful but sorry I did have to laugh, for yes sounds like something that would happen to me. Were you on a ladder?

Nope, just kind of squatted and went to stand up and it happened.

One way to get out of painting! Though I think painting would have been preferable. 🙂

I’ve had shoulder problems ~> shoulder impingement syndrome. It’s like carpal tunnel in the wrists, but in the shoulders. Both times, a steroid shot cleared it up providing relief within a day or so. Now, if I feel a “twinge” (no matter how slight), I stop stretching or reaching with my shoulders for a couple of days and also take an anti-inflammatory to relieve the pressure.
Good luck!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hmm …hadn’t heard of that before. Did you have a certain test to diagnose it? That would be great if a shot was all that was needed. Will see. 🙂
Thanks!

Google “shoulder impingement syndrome” and see if it meshes. I went to an orthopedic specialist both times. The office took x-rays and the physician’s assistant manipulated my arms around to diagnose. Then I got a shot and was careful not to overuse the shoulder.
Second shoulder was about 2 years after the first. Same procedure, but this time in FL instead of MD.
