Good Morning! Some movies recently have come up in conversation with friends of mine, so I thought I would do a little “scientific” poll among all of you. Any of you that want to participate that is. My all time favorite movie, hands down, would be “The Sound of Music!” I started watching it with my family when I was little and basically grew up with it. Every year around Christmas time we would gather around the TV to watch it. It is one of those movies that never grows old, and warms my heart every time. What is yours?
There are many types of movies that I do like, and two of them came up in conversation. One was a movie from back in my teen years, “Dirty Dancing” with Patrick Swayzee, my sister and I would watch it and dream. How many of you remember it? The other one is more recent, “Mama Mia!” The great music and the beauty of the ocean in the movie, just makes one go “Ahhh!” I will admit though that if “ABBA” would have been singing their own songs the movie would have been even better! Your thoughts? While you are thinking, enjoy the quotes, pick a favorite one or 2, and may they bring a smile, and lift your heart on day number ???? of lockdown!
- Another great classic movie. 🙂
Yay for Willy Wonka and silliness. We all could use more of that! As for movies, no list would be complete without the excellent Lord of the Rings series.

I remember all those films, and I’ve seen The Sound of Music so many times, i could probably act it on my own. Pierce Brosnan spoilt Mamma Mia for me as a singer he is NOT!
Favourite films I could watch forever? The Glenn Miller Story or It’s a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart, Medicine Man with Sean Connery, and The Terminator (the original) with Arnie, so a pretty mixed bag! If you want animation, then Dumbo (I still cry), Up or Despicable Me (1 and 2).
Great quotes again this week but 3, 4, 8 and especially 10 did it for me.

Yes, I think I could act out the Sound of Music too! 🙂
Haven’t seen Up for a long time, but I did really like it! There are great animated films out there!
Yes, I agree, Pierce was not a great singer, but I still enjoyed the movie! 🙂
I knew I had to include 10 when I saw it, especially in these times right now. Glad you liked the others too!

7. My favorite movie is The Sure Thing. But the best movie I’ve seen is Casablanca….also The Godfather…

I knew there would be others that would identify with Number 7! 🙂
I have actually never seen Casablanca, but would like too, for I am curious since it is a classic!

Will add it to my list! I had never heard of “The Sure” either. I did try The GodFather, but had trouble getting into it.

I resisted watching The Godfather for a long time…but I will say…it’s as close to a perfect movie as I’ve ever seen

I may have to try again. I know there have been movies that I haven’t liked at first, but later have. Kind of like songs, depends on the mood I am in when watching or listening and just some things have to grow on me. 🙂

Very true. If you can try to watch it again….and you must watch Casablanca

I have always like #5. but #7 made me laugh. No favorite movies really, and I never watch them multiple times. I did however watch Witness and the Sixth Sense twice.

Oh you go more for the scary movies! I get scared too easily, can’t handle them! 🙂

No, actually I hate scary movies and make a point of not watching them. Honestly I don’t watch many movies at all.

Oh I was thinking the Sixth Sense was a scary one.
There is a lot of better things to do than watch that is foe sure, but I do like to relax to a good movie. 🙂

Well, my favorite movie of all time is probably The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly. Dances With Wolves is on the list for the music. I also loved The Naked Gun for comedy, but unfortunately OJ is in it.
When I was a teen, I had a VHS tape that had 16 Candles, Back to the Future, and Ferris Beuller’s Day Off. I watched those movies so much I can almost quote them beginning to end.
I like the second quote.

Dances with Wolves does have great music! Mama Mia does too! Sorry, just had to throw that in. 🙂 I guess that didn’t make your list, eh!? I remember the Naked Gun too and OH Yes, the Back to the Future movies were great!
Number 2 helps us have some control of our sanity!

love the toilet paper joke 🙂
The Sound of Music is one of the all-time great movies. If I had to pick a favorite, it is Chariots of Fire.

I cracked up when I saw the meme about the toilet paper, there is just no end to the jokes that have come out of all this! One way to help keep our sanity! 🙂
Hey, look at that, we can agree on movies! LOL! Chariots of Fire is another great one!

With most movies, once is enough. Twice is tops.
That said, here are a “few” movies I’ve watched more than twice:
The Sound of Music
The Ugly Dachshund
Mary Poppins
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Nanny McPhee
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
Harry Potter series
Shrek
Madagascar
A Christmas Carol & Scrooge ~ every version!
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
Home for the Holidays
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
National Lampoon’s Animal House
Caddyshack

As you already know, I share your #1 movie choice! #6 & #7 made me chuckle! And no, I still haven’t watched any that you’ve recommended, for I seem to be busier in this era of pandemic than I was before! Keeping up with the craziness that is our lives these days takes 12-14 hours a day! I have a list, though … a movie list … maybe I can squeeze one in this weekend!

Keep the list with you and hopefully soon you will get a break! Can’t wait to hear what you think of them once you do get to see them! 🙂 OH and I posted Jason’s 2nd part of his story today, when you get a chance!

Thanks for the reminder! I just traveled over there and … LOVED the story, though it still isn’t complete, as even Jason himself noted. I found much humour and loved Jason’s daughter’s drawing! You and Jason must collaborate again sometime!
