Happy Tuesday! Happy AP Calculus Test Day! My Senior has to take his exam today and was surprised early this morning by a special delivery left on our doorstep. A small box of donuts with 2 letters. One letter to him and his class, wishing them well on the online exam today and saying how if they had walked into class this morning the song “The Eye of the Tiger” would be playing. It went on to talk about how this year didn’t go as planned, but that’s the way it is with life and went on with words of encouragement. Then the 2nd letter was a personal encouragement one to him. So very thoughtful!! I applaud that teacher and her heart! She is a wonderful example of what makes teachers so special!
You may not have received a note on your doorstep, and sadly no donuts either, but I hope you can feel encouraged today in some special way!

If I woke up with no fear the first thing I’d do is contact a psychiatrist. We need a healthy amount of fear to keep us from walking in front of a bus or something.

Would that be fear that stops you from walking in front of a bus, or common sense??
I will admit that you do have a point! Some fear is a good thing.
If you do ever hit that time when you need a psychiatrist, I know of one. Credentials may be a little shady, but …. 🙂

Why would common sense keep me from walking out in front of a moving bus if there was nothing to fear?

Why do you have to make sense? 😛

Oh, I didn’t think I was making any sense. I try to avoid that. Maybe I watched the Willy Wonka movie too many times growing up. A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men.

Ahh! Good ole Willy Wonka! Yes, that explains it!

I’d probably be the kid that fell into the eggdicator.
That nonsense quote would be a good one for your Tuesday thoughts.

Yes. I will have to remember that, for it is a great one! Remind me next Monday. 🙂

When I was a kid, sometimes I’d laugh at my brothers and sometimes they would get mad and hit me as a result, and this sometimes hurt, so I guess that would be the last time.

You should put on a helmet before reading my comments

Ha Ha! I need one of them.
I think a certain “Three Stooges” should invest in a helmet for me! 🙂

At least wrap three or four rolls of toilet paper around your head for protection.

I thought Number 8 would get a smile! 🙂
Thanks for the good luck wishes. I think he will do great, but he always stresses. I think we have talked about the similarities before with our children. They are high achievers!

I think 1 & 2 go hand in hand. Tell the negative nellies to sit down and shut up and then go forth and conquer the world. 😊

Hadn’t thought of that when I put them back to back, but I like it! 🙂

all good, but 1, 2 and 5 are my favourites today.
Nice gesture by the teacher. Not many like that around anymore.

Oh you like all that fancy stuff. I prefer my hot chocolate plain, but with marshmallows on top.

LOL! I can drink it plain too, but yes ,need the marshmallows. 🙂

It’s kind of cold and windy here today. Maybe it’s time for me to pretend like I’m sick, and hint to my wife that some hot chocolate might help me feel better.

Its been that type of weather here for the past couple days! I need hot chocolate too!
Good luck with getting some from your oh so nice wife! 🙂

Well, right after I posted that comment, I went into the sewing room, where my wife was making another mask. I remarked, “Gee, I feel chilled. It’s been so cold today. I’m not feeling well. Hot chocolate sure sounds nice.”
She immediately pushed herself away from her sewing machine and said, “Oh you want some hot chocolate? I’ll make you some.” A few minutes later I was enjoying a tall mug of chocolate, topped with whipped cream. It was delicious.

No, but I made sure I had my bathrobe on, to carry the effect of being sick. And I also made sure there was a pathetic wobble in my voice.

If my husband hsd said that I would say, “You are so right, hot chocolate sounds like a great idea! Make me a cup too please when making yours.”

Your husband is probably not a hypochondriac. He doesn’t seem well-practiced at feigning illness.

Yes, when I think of how many houses his teacher had to go too, it was a very thoughtful gesture.
LOL! I knew I had to post that when I saw it. 🙂

I’m also curious if they had any controls over the test taking process since it was being done remotely.
LikeLiked by 1 person
It was a timed test but there were no other controls. My son said though that Calculus isn’t like History, you can’t just quickly google a answer to the question. Either you know how to solive the problem or you don’t. He loves math! You can tell, he got his math whiz brain from his Dad NOT me! LOL!
LikeLiked by 1 person
that’s interesting about the controls. we plan to give our tests this summer with students being logged into Zoom so that we can see them while they are taking the test…
I’m happy to hear he loves math!

Apparently this test was a nationwide AP Calculus test. Everyone was testing at the same time. He said the biggest complaint of everyone was how short of time they give you. You don’t upload your answers in time you get a 0! He won’t get his results til July.
I figured you would like to know that he enjoys math. You both are crazy! LOL!

I am sure they make it challenging on purpose, to better differentiate performance. How awful that would be to take the entire test, and to then fail to upload your answers.
There certainly seem to be a lot of opportunities for people with a strong math background!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh yes that would be awful
You are right about the many opportunities! He really likes science too. It will be interesting to see what direction he goes in!

Sadly they kind of are but it could be a good thing in the end. The college he was going to is pretty sure they will be doing online schooling for at least the Fall semester. My son isn’t thrilled about that, he isn’t going to give up college just not how he wanted to start his college experience.
LikeLiked by 1 person
that’s a shame. it certainly will be a different way to start college…
We are still not sure what we will be doing at Villanova for the Fall. The decision will be made in early July…

I know its a tough decision for colleges to make!
He did think about the idea of working for a year and saving up money and then going to college , we will see how it plays out.

it is a tough decision; we have no idea how many people would actually enroll for the Fall semester if it is online again, particularly freshmen…

I like the last image with the advice to be the person who cares, who has a heart. That idea is quickly disappearing in our world. Everyone is so sure they know what is right for everyone else. Egos abound. It wears on my soul.
