Life is Strange….

Today got away from me and I didn’t think I would have a post today. This is what happens when you don’t do drafts. But an idea just came up to me due to a conversation with another blogger.

What is one of the most shocking things that you have had happen to you? Something someone said or did that left you speechless.

You know what they say, “Life is stranger than fiction!” Share a moment from your life where that saying holds true!

I will share some of mine in response to anyone that shares theirs. 🙂

  1. I’m not quite sure it is the kind you are looking for, but here’s a situation that left me speechless for a moment.

A friend (I actually had a crush on him back then) and I were having one of our endless conversations, when he pause, looked at me and said “It’s such a shame you’re not pretty. You would have been the perfect girlfriend!” He wasn’t saying that in an harmful way, I could tell, and he didn’t even realize how insulting that could be! LOL I was in a loss for words for a while, and I couldn’t even be mad at him, because I understood the compliment he was trying to make 😛 Really awkward situation 😛

    • Oh my gosh!! I am like laughing and yet feeling how awkward that must have been for you at the same time!
Yes, that is a perfect example. Did you guys stay friends?

And it makes me think of a incident that happened with me with a guy. We were dating but it was one of those times where no matter how ai tried I just liked him as a friend. We hadn’t dated long and I didn’t want to lead him on so I wrote a note. Yes, I know such a cop out, a “Dear John” letter.
Well I gave him the note as we passed in the hallway in school. He gave me one too. I read it in class and felt literally sick! He was telling me how he was the happiest he had ever been and how wonderful I was and yeah….I just wanted a hole to open up and swallow me!

  2. i enjoyed some of the stories so far!
    and mine ?
in 1991 i worked a summer at a little greek restaurant.
my best friends that summer were Casey and G because we worked together at he greek place – G was the restaurant owner’s son and he had a cool Mitsubishi mirage – and we would go (as friends) to see Casey work at her various night jobs – like she worked at a huge sports bar for a few weeks and served beer out the back of a truck inside the place – it was funny!
that call – back to school and we all split up – then – 14 or 15 months later – fall of 1992 – i was quitting my summer job at a place two
hours from the greek place the summer before –
i was moving 1500 miles away and it was my last night of work –
    and guess who came in?
casey – and she said she was banned from there (she was always a little wild child but sweet and awesome) and she took a chance and nobody noticed –
anyhow – we hugged and talked and shared new phone numbers – and it was a god appointment for sure!
i still thank god for it –
i forgot her last name – and went back to that area in 2012 and the greek place is long gone –

  3. I think … probably the most shocking time of my life was when I found myself facing the barrel of a gun pointed at me. It wasn’t, perhaps, the fact that my ex-husband had the gall to drive to my home and threaten me at gunpoint as my own reaction. You might think I cowered in fear, or ran for the door, right? Nope, I saw red, I was so furious, that I ran right past him and his gun and kicked the side of his car in!!! It was a Ford Pinto, and trust me, it doesn’t take much to cave one of those things! Plus … there is that saying, “Never underestimate the power of a woman”. Later … much later … I shook with the realization of what might have happened, but at that moment, I didn’t think, only reacted! Your turn!

    • Oh my gosh!! Wow! When adrenaline kicks in…..!
Sooo glad you were okay, did he really just turn around and leave after that?? So sorry that you had a ex like that who would dare to threaten you with a gun! Ugh!!
My turn will come as soon as my thinking cap starts thinking. You all are definitely challenging me but it is fun to read everyone’s comments. 🙂

    • I surely can’t think of anything that beats this or even comes close. Very scary and hope you never find yourself in a situation like that again, but I do love your reaction!.

I know what you mean about being caught up in the moment and not thinking about what could happen. We had a fire in my daughter’s room years ago. She slept with her Yorkie in her room. She was standing outside the room screaming. I figured the Yorkie was still in the room. I remember trying to figure out how I could dodge the flames that were as high as the ceiling to save the dog. Right before doing what would have had severe consequences I noticed the dog peeking out of the blanket in my daughter’s arms!!

  5. Several years ago, we were on enjoying a local-ish ferry boat ride when I saw a local celebrity, a weather man that I liked from our news station. My family was not near me, and he was within feet of me, plugging in his phone to charge it. I didn’t want to miss the chance to meet him, so I walked up to him and I was literally speechiess. All I could do is ask for a selfie. I don’t think I even told him my name, just “hi, can I take a selfie with you?” My husband was impressed I even did that, considering my introverted disposition.

  6. Yes, I am afraid you may be right and thanks I am very thankful too! Thankful that my act of stupidity in accepting the biind date in the first place didn’t have worse consequences!

      • Ok, I thought of one. At one point I worked as a retail store manager for a small locally-owned chain of card and gift stores. One awful day as I was tallying up the weekly store receipts, I realized that my assistant manager was embezzling money from the store. I couldn’t believe it and sat at my desk, stunned, starring at the numbers for I bet 15 minutes. Of course I had to call the owners to tell them my suspicions & soon thereafter the assistant manager was arrested, but by that time I was over my shock, having moved straight into ticked off.

  7. Onc, when I was driving home from work, I spotted a handsome guy driving beside me in the stop and go traffic on the interstate. He smiled. I smiled. He waved. I waved…..he. Otioned to the next exit. I stepped on the gas and never looked back. 🙈
