Tuesday’s Thoughts!

HAPPY TUESDAY! It may be April, but yesterday we had March winds, they were strong! I opened the van door to get out at a stop I made and the door tried to take me on a ride, thankful for much calmer weather today. I do believe its safe for me to go outside now.  I hope the winds of happiness blow your way today. If its other winds that are trying to blow HOLD ON and I hope they calm for you soon. Enjoy the quotes, and if the day is windy look to the sky, perhaps you will see Mary Poppins fly by!

  1. The incomparable Shel Silverstein…#8,9 &10! Since I was gifted with the 1964 “The Giving Tree” when it was published, I have been a fan and collector of his work. The dust cover is faded and the pages are worn from the countless times that I read it myself, read it to my children and in the most recent years read it to Benjamin. “The Missing Piece”, “A Light in the Attic”, “Where the Sidewalk Ends” and “Falling Up” are treasures for any child and the child that remains inside the adult. The 1983 audio edition, by Shel himself, of “Where the Sidewalk Ends” is superb. On the wall of this very room where I sit is the framed copy of a poem from “Falling Up” : “All the woulda-coulda-shouldas layin’ in the sun, talkin’ ’bout the things they woulda-coulda-shoulda done…but those woulda-coulda-shouldas all ran away and hid from one little DID.” Thank-YOU!

    • Oh yes “The Giving Tree! Love that book!!
I have always liked Shel Silverstein and my dear brother did too. I got his copies of Shel’s books that he had. There were actually some parts from “Where the Sidewalk Ends” shared at the Memorial Service for him, for they just fit the type of person that he was.So Shel Silverstein’s writings will always be special to me.
      Thanks for sharing!
