Life is comprised of so many special moments and sometimes it can be the littlest things that make the heart swell!
My husband had mentioned awhile back for me to save a certain date on the calendar. He said that he was taking me out to celebrate. I asked him what we were celebrating. He smiled as he said, that I would have to just wait and see, but that the date held a lot of significance.
Well my curious mind went into overtime as I was wondering what was so significant about this date. I really had no clue! As the time grew closer I got more curious but of course no clues were given. Finally the day arrived. Not only did I not know why the date of the day was so significant, I didn’t even know where we were going!
As we were driving down the road he took my hand and asked me if I really had no clue of the significance of the date. I said “Yes” and he was silent. Then he said, “The reason for celebrating this very significant day is…” and it went silent again. Can you tell that my dear husband loves drawing out the suspense? It went on like that for a little until finally he spoke words that reminded me again of why I love him so. He said, ” As of today and so many hours (he gave the number of hours!) I have known you for exactly half of my life!” I was without words!
We had a wonderful time at a outdoor Jazz concert and then went to a delicious Japanese restaurant. Both of those things were great, but what stuck in my mind as I went to bed that night was those simple words from his heart. What will stay in my heart is how special he made me feel.
Making someone feel special doesn’t have to be about giving them something big and pricey. So often it is more the words of love and appreciation spoke directly from the heart!
Way to go Brad! 🙂

I have to ask…. are you the “little thing” that you alluded to?

“Ha Ha!” I figured either you or my “gentleman” husband would say something about that. I was right!
The littlest things can be the most important things, so YUP, of course its me. 🙂

This man has just diminished every single Disney Prince created by Walt! This man is a PRINCE! This is romantic with a capital “R”! Many men have difficulty remembering their anniversary, unless it’s tattooed on their body. This Prince remembers to the hour how long he’s known you! Then celebrates this half of his life milestone by taking you to a concert and dinner! My dear… this is one BIG little thing!!

And this is why 21 years ago that all the fair maidens hearts broke when they realized his heart was taken! 🙂 🙂

Aw, shucks. Thanks, y’all.
One little detail that she politely omitted was that after I initially planned this special date I realized that I was off by one year. I had set up a spreadsheet to calculate the date, but I accidentally had an extra line in it that added an extra year. So, it was August 27, 2016 when I had known her half my life. I was so bummed when I realized the error, but we still had a good time, even if exactly one year late. 😉

What honesty. She would have never known!

:)! It didn’t matter to me. I do remember now though that you said there is another significant date to be celebrated next year!
Any clues?? Oh and hey maybe we should just go ahead and celebrate it this year in case you were wrong! 🙂

Haha. No, I checked that one multiple times and in different ways. It’s not off. 😉
I used the spreadsheet to make it easier to account for all the days, even the extra day in each leap year. After I calculated it a second way and caught the accidental extra line in the initial hasty version, I made sure to not make that mistake again. 😉
July 30, 2018 is next year’s significant day. (I know you have a love-hate relationship with suspense.) 😉

July 30 shouldn’t be that difficult for her to work out Brad! 🙂

Thanks, I think. 😉 Math was actually my best subject in school. The error here was in having an extra line in a spreadsheet. It was done hastily in the early morning as I was in a hurry to get to work. I should’ve double-checked it before mentioning it instead of after. 😉

This is such a great story, I had to share with my husband. Very touching. Unfortunately, we don’t have a date to go on for meeting one another, simply because we both recall when and where we met differently.

Thanks Char! I say you solve the problem by celebrating 2x. Once for how you remember it and once for how he does! 🙂 🙂

Wow! I couldn’t even begin to calculate that. My husband and I met as friends (he was dating a friend of mine). I have no idea when it was or even what year. You have a very romantic husband. I think that was a great idea.

I say you just pick a date and celebrate it. 🙂
I was atttacted to how romantic he was when we were dating and glad to say that it has continued on in our marriage.
