Dreams: What are they to you?

Just beautiful...: Goodnight Moon~
Moon over Mt. Rundle and Two Jack Lake

Alberta, Canada:

Night is falling, at least in my part of the world. When the hour gets later it will be time to close my eyes and drift away to dreamland.  What kind of dreamer are you?

Are you like my dear husband who remembers about 2 dreams since we have been married. One was of riding pink elephants through snow drifts. That could actually be fun! I guess I should mention that he was sick with a fairly high fever when he had that dream.

Or are you more like me? Once I fall asleep the dreams come and they keep coming. I usually remember at least 3 dreams each night. Sometimes it may not be 3 dreams, it can just be 1 very long dream. Sometimes they are totally bizarre, but other times they do hold meaning. Sometimes meaning for me and sometimes for others. To say that there have been times that I have been in awe of my dreams is probably an understatement.

Dreams do intrigue me. Our emotions can play out so much in our dreams. In ways that we may not realize at first. Not until we look deeper at our dreams. Do you ever take time to ponder your dreams? You may be surprised at what you find.

What do you think about dreams?  Are you more like me or my husband or in between? Do you have special dreams that have stood out to you in your life? Feel free to share below. You know me, I am curious 🙂

Whatever dreams  mean to you, I hope you have pleasant ones tonight. When you close your eyes and rest your head, may your dreams put a smile on your face.

How was your day? Did you exercise for at least 15 minutes? Did you eat healthy meals? Did you spend some time for yourself?:

A Matter of Perspective…..

GFunny Animal Pictures Of The Day – 20 Pics: I opened two gifts this morning:

Good Morning! It is all a matter of perspective, isn’t it? We can be thinking about how much we want to stay sleeping or we can be thankful for another day that we can open our eyes. Looking forward to what we things we can SEE today! Which perspective will you have today?

This dog is choosing a different perspective as well. So when you look at the picture below, do you think of yourself or your friend? The “Limited Edition” is a nicer way to look at things isn’t it. Or you could say that your friend is weird AND that it is a good thing that they are a limited edition. 🙂 See, aren’t you glad you are awake!  Think of the good news you can share with some people.

The Cat’s perspective is to admit he is weird and be glad of it!

Super funny animal pictures with captions:

Now that you had some smiles go out and have a wonderful day! And remember your perspective can change everything. I leave you with this little story. My friend’s son got a kiss on the cheek from his Grandma when she went to leave. He immediately took his hand to his face and started rubbing his cheek. His Grandma said, ” Oh you are rubbing my kiss away!”, His response, ” No I rubbed it in so that I can keep it forever!”

Not my Problem!

This attitude was displayed last night on a Facebook post. A friend of mine had posted a picture of Martin Luther King commemorating his birthday. This innocent act by her is what made someone decide to rant to her. I rarely get involved in debates on Facebook, but this one struck a chord in me and I had to say something.

This person was claiming that major moments in our past history should not keep being brought up.  He was referring to things like slavery, Holocaust, Pearl Harbor, etc. They  were not relevant to him, for he wasn’t around for them. He was not responsible for them, he said. They are not his problem and he makes no apologies for the atrocities that happened. He did admit that they were horrible things, but irrelevant to him and he gets tired of hearing about them. That attitude just stirred something inside me that couldn’t stay quiet.

As I was replying back to him, I couldn’t help but think how  this  attitude explains a lot of the world’s problems today!  If it isn’t something that personally affects me, it doesn’t matter! I don’t have time to be bothered with other things. This belief is so wrong!

It is not all about you is what I want to scream at some people. The problem is even if I do scream that, they don’t really hear. They don’t get it! That was made obvious by his response back to me. I didn’t bother to reply back again.I had expressed my viewpoint, no more needed to be said.  I am not one that loves to debate. A exception to that rule is if  you are talking about a humorous, battle of wits debate. Those debates I have more chance of winning and yes they are more fun.

What would you have said to him? Do you think events like slavery and the Holocaust should continue to be taught in schools? I will tell you how I responded, but first am interested in what you would say. Do you agree that this attitude explains a lot of this world’s problems?  Maybe you take a different stance on what he said, if so please feel free to share that as well.  Your opinion is important

A Touch of Magic!

Christmas is over and believe it or not January is half over already! Time just keeps flying. There are 2 people though that time is not flying for, and we are going to check in on them today.  Have you wondered whatever happened to Jinx and Jangle? Did they ever get their own team of reindeer and get to drive the sleigh?  If you missed reading about Jinx and Jangle, here are 2 links for you. The Story of Jinx and Jangle and Dewey and Friends solve a Christmas Riddle .

“What time is it?”, asked Jinx. Jangle just stared at him. “I can’t believe you just asked that, it is only 3 minutes later than the last time you asked!”

Jinx hung his head. He was so hoping that more time had passed. At the rate this was going,  it was going to take forever!  If he hoped to ever get this job done, he needed to find a bigger shovel.  He put his shovel down and turned to walk out.

“Hey,where are you gong? You know there is still A LOT More to do! I am not doing your half.” Jangle was looking at him curiously . Jinx assured him he would be back, he just needed to go on a hunt for a bigger shovel, surely Santa would have one.

Jangle watched him walked out and thought he should walk out with him, just to get some fresh air! It may be really cold stepping outside when you are at the North Pole, BUT… being closed up in this big barn with all the reindeer…. Well, it didn’t exactly smell like flowers! What did Santa feed these reindeer anyway? It sure went right through them, the evidence was right in front of him!  Jangle took a deep breath and started shoveling once again into  the deep pile.

“Excuse me, ” Jangle jumped almost 10 feet in the air as something touched  his leg, and he turned to see Jaxon the Jackalope! “Whoa! What are you doing here, are your other friends here?” asked Jangle. He had  remembered their meeting in the woods that one time when they were discussing about the the “man-servant” being on Santa’s naughty list.

“No, they couldn’t come with me this time”, said Jaxon. “I felt a strange sensation that you needed help and so I transported myself here right away. ” “Dewey was busy sleeping, and Odessa was out hunting and the “man-servant’, well he had lots of dishes to do. Plus Dewey’s pillows really needed sewed and fluffed again, and the carpet needed cleaned.

Jangle smiled and gladly handed the shovel to Jaxon. “Oh I am so glad you came! I will just step outside for some fresh air now, have fun!” With that said,  Jangle left before Jaxon changed his mind and disappeared.

Jaxon shook his head thinking how Jinx and Jangle must have really got into trouble with their last sleigh ride . He wonders what all they collided with this time, being that they had been relegated to pooper scooper duty! Well if Jangle thought that Jaxon was going to clean up all these piles with a shovel, he could think again! He wasn’t a magical Jackalope for nothing. He closed his eyes and twitched his nose and recited a special phrase and POOF! A cloud of smoke filled the air. It cleared away,  and the pile of poop on Jangle’s side had totally disappeared!

It was right at that time that Jangle walked back in and took one look as he almost fell down! He picked up Jaxon and swung him around saying how wonderful he and his magic powers were! As he was doing that Jinx walked back in with a bigger shovel in his hand. “It took some time, but I finally found it. You can borrow it when I am done Jangle.”

“Oh don’t worry about me, I am done!” Now it was Jinx’s turn to almost faint as he looked at how spotless Jangle’s side of the barn was. “I wasn’t gone that long!”, he yelled. “What did you do?” Jangle smirked and said, ” Well I might have had some good help from my magical buddy here.”, he patted Jaxon and Jaxon just smiled.

Jinx’s heart felt suddenly light. This was going to be great! “Can you please use your magical powers on my side Jaxon?” Jaxon looked down and nervously shuffled from one side to another. “Wellll…. I am very sorry Jinx, but I can’t. You see, I was told a long time ago that I had to be very careful with my magic powers. That I could not use them too often.  I used a couple today already, I really am sorry, but I have reached my quota for the day. You understand, right?”

Jangle tried not to laugh, for he did feel bad for Jinx.  After all Jinx was his friend. Since he was his friend, he decided he would help. He walked over to Jinx, who was looking pretty dejected right now. He handed his shovel to Jinx and said, “Here you go my friend, now you have a shovel for each hand! So you should be able to get this job done in double the time.”

Jinx, gave him a look, for sometimes there are no words. Jaxon knew he had to get back to the farm, so he said his goodbyes and vanished in a cloud of smoke.  Jangle was still smiling and was gong to make a comment to Jinx about what a cool friend Jaxon was. When he saw Jinx’s face though and heard him muttering, he decided it might be better to  leave quietly. The fresh air was calling him!

What does a Teddy bear, Swiss Chocolate bar, a book about The World’s Greatest Cities, Colored Pencils and a small rubber ball have in in common? The answer is My Crazy Husband! Let me explain.

I was sitting at the computer, after being gone today, trying to think of a post. I asked my husband if he had any inspiring ideas. Well one by one he started placing these things in front of me on the computer desk. There were more things  and I kept shaking my head. I was saying how he wasn’t helping, trying not to laugh. Then he  put a Christmas  card in front of me which made me laugh out loud! I said ” Yes, that is it!”

This card was a very unique card. It was unique due to the fact that upon opening it, I realized that I had no clue what the card said! I didn’t even recognize what language it was. All I knew is that it definitely wasn’t English!

I read the handwritten greeting inside and had to smile when I realized who it was from. The card made perfect sense suddenly, as you never know what to expect from this friend.  I paused briefly after reading what was written, wondering how I would translate what the card said. For my curious mind of course needed to know! The answer came quickly, turn the card over and see if a translation is on the back. Sure enough in small print in the bottom corner of the card there it was. Simple! Curiosity solved in less than 5 minutes!

I gave the card to my dear husband. After laughing,  what was the first thing my husband did? He went to the computer starting to type in the letters on the front of the card. He was trying unsuccessfully to get it translated. I was in the kitchen silently laughing. He didn’t stay at the computer long. Said he didn’t have time and he looked inside the card again, shook his head and went to do something else. Too much exercise for his brain perhaps?

Well the next day he was still wondering. Night came and I was still laughing as he wondered. At last,  I was nice enough to tell him how I had figured it out.Which was followed by more laughter from me!

The purpose of this story? How many things do we make so complicated, that are sooo easy! All he needed to do was turn the card over and look in the lower corner!  Simple!

I love him, but I did get a good laugh out of it! So yes when he put that card in front of me I had to share the story. Thank you honey for the idea!  🙂

Oh, and as for the friend who sent the card.  Do you think they knew to look on the back of the card right away?  Did I get double laughter with this particular card?  YES! Men just make things so complicated, eh!

Does your Child know?

I work at a Daycare and yes some days it gets tiring. My co-worker and I will look at each other and say, “Okay, we are done”, as our little cherubs are running around testing the power of their lungs. It can get a little crazy as one keeps pulling off their shoes and the other one is having a meltdown. A meltdown because someone sat in the chair that  he wanted to sit in. Yes, the chairs do look exactly alike, but apparently that doesn’t matter. Think with a toddler’s logic now. Hmmm… I know some adult’s that still think with a toddler’s logic, but that is a different post. 🙂

Then there is nap time which is supposed to be a time of peace. The peace does come, but only after having to get your class of 7 toddlers to calmly lay down and go to sleep. A much easier task some days than others! Little Johnny is crying for he wants his pacifier, but Mommy and Daddy don’t want him to have it  anymore. They are breaking him from it. Little Sarah wants her special blankie which was forgotten at home. At last they do settle down and your heart melts at how your precious, slumbering angels look when asleep.

I do enjoy my job. Being showered with hugs and sloppy kisses. Always knowing that you will be guaranteed laughs by something that is said or done. Kids are natural comedians!

My job is fun. I can finger paint, play with play dough  and read books as I cuddle with a little one on my lap and 1 by my side. Yes, all that is true, but there are days where my heart strings are tugged and I feel a little sad. Yesterday was one of them. It was because of what was witnessed happening between one of our 4 year old’s  and her Dad. We have infants to age 5 in our Daycare. It is neat to watch the toddler that I had in my class of  2 year old’s,  grow and move up to the preschool classroom. This was one of those . A little girl.

This little one was sent home the day before due to vomiting. The stomach bug has been going around and I always hold my breath when that happens, for I so don’t want it! Well she was brought back the next day. It wasn’t much later until she vomited again in front of her class. She was crying tears of embarrassment, but also sad tears. She told her teacher how Daddy would be upset that she was sick, because he didn’t like missing work. He was called and sure enough that was his response. He knew he had to come and get her though, for that is our policy. Yes, we know it can make it inconvenient, but we also know how quickly germs can spread!

As the little girl was leaving, her teacher said that she hopes she feels better. The little one was crying because of feeling so bad and her Dad’s response was that he hopes so to, because he has to work!

I am not trying to offend anyone with this post.  I know parents have to work. I know that it is not practical for everyone to stay at home with their little kids. This is not a battle about the working vs. stay at home parent!

The point of this post is to point out how our words can affect our children. That little girl was sick, something she could not help. She was 4 years old and she should not have had to worry about how her Dad would feel about picking her up! He may have had very real concerns about work, but right then and there that little girl needed a comforting hug. Right then and there she needed to know that she was loved, and not seen as an inconvenience  in his day.

I am a parent of 2 teenagers. I know I have said things before that I shouldn’t have as they were growing up. We do it, we aren’t perfect. We make mistakes. This isn’t about making mistakes, it is about developing a pattern which I have seen with more than 1 parent. I have heard things out of the children’s mouths before that break my heart, have seen pictures they have drawn that can speak louder than words.

Our Director often reminds us of how in a lot of cases we spend more time with these kids then their parents do. She says that not to make the parent feel bad, but to show us how much of an impact we can make on the children entrusted into our care. I take that seriously and I want to do my best. There is truth though in the statement that I can never make up for the parent. My love for the child cannot take the place of a parent’s love. This isn’t about making mistakes and feeling guilty about them.  It is only about making sure your child knows they are loved. That they are valuable and precious, and that you being entrusted with raising them is the MOST IMPORTANT JOB that you will ever have!

Laughter Lights Up Your Heart!

Happy Thursday! Mary Poppins songs were going through my head all day yesterday due to the post I had done. The song below  stuck in my mind and well, you don’t mind another post inspired by Mary Poppins, do you?

Who cannot enjoy laughing? It is no secret that I believe Laughter is so necessary in this life! I couldn’t survive without it, which thanks to my dear family and friends,  I really don’t have to worry about going without it!

Laughter - The Best Medicine - 23 Benefits of Laughter: Too bad that it can’t make you float to the ceiling like in this song from Mary Poppins. That would be fun, wouldn’t it. 🙂

I can’t think of Mary Poppins without thinking of my all time favorite movie, which is  “The Sound of Music”! In thinking of that movie,  the song “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria”came to me. A song that you have to laugh at. This was one of my favorite scenes from the movie. No one knew quite how to handle Maria 🙂

Take care of your health today and make sure you laugh!

Snoopy :-) Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves for they will never stop laughing!:

HP FAX 1250 Fax Machine (Black): Why a picture of a Fax Machine? You read the comic above, right? Think about being a newlywed, being love struck, and not being real technology savvy. I was working in a pharmacy and…. … Yes, about 20 some years later I can laugh about it. Perhaps that is another story for another time 🙂
