What does Freedom mean to you?

Today we are celebrating Independence Day and the Freedom we have by living in America. I am very thankful for America and for all who helped form it and make it what it is. Are there things I am not so happy about with the USA, yes there is.  BUT today is not the day to focus on that! Today is a day for appreciation of the hard work and sacrifices that were made for our Country.

My mind keeps going in another direction today too. It  has to do with Freedom, but a different kind of freedom. The freedom that is yours when you overcome a obstacle. The freedom that comes little by little as you climb that mountain.Freedom that comes from opening your heart and freely embracing the love of others around you and learning to love yourself!

My heart goes out today to those who may not have fought for our Country but who are fighting their own battles inside of them. For those who are longing for freedom from the bondage their pain holds them in

Let Freedom Ring! Hang in there to any of you fighting inner battles! Keep fighting, your Independence Day is coming!!

We’ve all got our battles,
Our now fading scars;
We’ve all got reminders,
Of a trip through hell and back.

It’s a trophy map plastered,
On the heart for none to see;
Showing scars of various sizes,
All the demons- their defeat.

And she strode, and she fought
And she fell, still got up;
And the battles, wore her out;
But give up, she did not.

We’ve all got our battles,
Our now fading scars;
Which remind us of journeys-
And the strength within, we got.

In Solitude-

I have been so inspired by the poetry of my sweet friend from Randoms by a Random . I been wanting to share her poetry and figured now would be a great time, for her poetry speaks to my heart. I pray it speaks to yours too! Enjoy!

And when she couldn’t take it-
She sat with the mountains,
And swayed with the tree leaves;
She rocked with waves as,
They came crashing wildly.

And when in need of beauty-
She looked to the birds with
 Their wings, rising- retracting
She gazed at the stars forming,
Gems in the skyline.

And when the world confused her-
She listened intently,
To sounds made at moonlight;
She looked to the lambs,
Seeking solitude from humans.

And when the sun rises-
She looks to the daisies
Inhaling from the petals;
Choosing to see the beauty,
ignoring errs of humans.

And when she still can’t take it-
She sits with the mountains,
Fixing her gaze skyward.
