The Long Wait

Welcome to Sunday’s Photo Fiction , the picture is provided by Joe Owens. I will admit when I first saw this picture I thought I may have to pass on this today. My mind was blank and thought EWWW! But something did come to my mind, you can decide if I should have followed my first thought and passed. LOL!FreakySkeletonsShe had trouble standing upright, it had been so long. Her bones may be creaking, but she was smiling. Finally she and her husband could go out on the town. Could have that special date that had been planned so long ago. The purple dress had hung in her closet waiting for the special day. She would touch it and daydream about the night coming up, but things didn’t exactly go as planned!

She was dressed and ready to go, she was even on time, she knew her husband would be pleased! They got in the car and took off with excitement. About 15 miles down the road, her husband sighed. Things didn’t look right, .“Are we lost?”, she asked. 30 more miles went by. She asked the question her husband dreaded, “Should we stop for directions?” “NO!”  The  woman stopped talking and thought to herself, I am going to sit here, being quiet and not moving, until he finally stops for directions.

Friday’s 6 word story! ( WELL MAYBE NOT :)

Sorry to report that due to SNOW coming on what is supposed to be the first day of Spring there has been a delay! A delay in your 6 word story coming, for I read another quote this morning and just had to post it. It is longer than 6 words, but so appropriate for today! May you get a smile from it and the 6 word story will be coming!

“It’s snowing still”, said Eeyore gloommily

“So it is”

And Freezing!”

Yes, it is”

However”, he said, brightening up a little, “We haven’t had a earthquake lately!”

Gotta love Eeyore! Look on the bright side, even as you look out the window at the snow falling and at the calender saying winter is supposed to be over! Have a fantastic Friday everyone! For no matter the weather, the WEEK-END is definitely coming! NO DELAYS on that!

What scares you?

Do you suffer from chiclephobia, eisoptrophobia, lepidopterophobia, ailurophobia, herpetophobia,or botanaphobia??

If you don’t suffer from any of these but you actually know what they mean and have heard of them before, then congrats, you are smarter than me! 🙂 Of course that isn’t saying much!

For those of you who don’t know and are dying of curiosity, I am here to save the day for you. I had grabbed one of those little trivia books for my husband’s stocking last Christmas and here is a small portion of what I learned.

Please no offense to those who may have some of these fears. I do poke some fun, for I couldn’t help it, but I do feel sorry for these people at the same time. Fear is real and I know it can be controlling and that is sad, for we weren’t meant to live in fear. Some of these may seem silly to you to, but how many fears do we have that maybe don’t sound but still are wrong if we let them control us. Fears that we need to let go of, for they do us no good. They only hinder us from fully enjoying life!

Chiclephobia – The fear of chewing gum which Oprah Winfrey has. O to miss out on all those great flavors of gum out there! And I guess she never had the pleasure of blowing a bubble or maybe at one time she did blow a bubble and it  popped all over her and that explains the fear.

Lepidopterophobia – The fear of butterflies which NIcole Kidman has. I can’t imagine being afraid of something so beautiful. One of the  songs from Sound of Music is going through my mind now, I flit, I flutter, I fly!

Ailurophobia – A fear of cats. Napoleon Bonaparte had this fear. He could lead armies, but he was afraid of cats! So a army of cats could have raised against him and they would have won!

Herpetophiba – A fear of reptiles. Here is one I can understand a little easier, I never quite understood the fad of Britney Spears who has this fear, but being afraid of alligators, crocodiles; yeah I can see that.

Botanaphobia – A fear of houseplants. Yes, you heard me correctly. I can see the movie title now, The Attack of the Killer Spider plant!! Sorry this one just cracked me up.  Apparently Christina Ricci has this fear.

Tuesday’s Thoughts!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!! NO, I am not Irish and I have never been to Ireland. Visiting Ireland is on my bucket list tho! But I like 4 leaf clovers and the leprechauns, so in honor of St.Patrick’s Day I bring you Irish Proverbs for my quotes  today. I hope you enjoy them!

Laugh as much as you breathe, Love as much as you live!

As you ramble through life whatever may be your goal; keep your eyes upon the donut and not upon the hole.

A good laugh and a long sleep are the 2 best cures for anything.

Some of the sweetest berries grow among the sharpest thorns.

Don’t miss all the beautiful colors of the rainbow as you are looking for that pot of gold.

May the roof above us never fall in and the friends gathered below it never fall out!

Don’t judge by appearances, a rich heart may be under a poor coat.

When the game is over, the king and pawn return to the same box.

As you can see, I am writing more quotes today than my usual.  I just couldn’t choose. Didn’t think you would mind 🙂 These next ones show the humor of the Irish, and how they tell it like it is.

It is better to be a coward for a minute, than dead for the rest of your life!

As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point the wrong direction!

If misfortune should ever follow you, may it never catch up.

You can tell a lot by a Irish Woman’s hands…for example, if they are placed around your neck, she probably is a little angry with you.

Will end with  Irish Blessing, they have many, but I will just write one for now 🙂

May your joys be as deep as the oceans, Your troubles as light as the foam and may you find sweet peace of mind wherever you may roam.

Monday’s Snapshot Memories!

HI! Hope your Monday is getting off to a good start! I smile as I see these pictures and go back in time. The first snapshot is my youngest having a serious talk with this dear Monkey. No, it is not hers, it is mine 🙂 This monkey has been around for 20 years and survived 4 moves. It was one of our first dates with my husband to be, we went to a Amusement Park in Indiana and he bought me this monkey that  became a special friend of mine.  Are you ever to old for stuffed animals?? I hear you all now saying, I knew she was crazy! LOL! It stayed on my bed and comforted me as distance separated me and my husband to be. Since we been married it has been in our bedroom and yes when my husband  was gone for 3 months due to work, it laid on his pillow.

In the next 3 shots, its a beautiful place back in the mountains that a group of wonderful friends and us used to go to frequently for reunions. Had a really nice large cabin to hold all of us and was just the perfect getaway. The mountains and the beach, I love them both! They are calming to the soul, restores the spirit! May you find some way to calm your soul this week! Happy Monday!LA-03 LA-02 hILA-15 LA-01

Did that really happen?

Falls Time again for Sunday’s Flash Photo Fiction. Thanks to Joe Owens for the beautiful picture and leading this challenge.

The little 6 year old girl was so excited! This was her first time in visiting Niagara Falls. She had completed swim lessons and loved the water! Was like a fish.

At last she arrived, eagerly she went with her parents and sister and Grammy and Pappy to see the Falls. She was taken in by the roar of the Falls and the beauty of them. Turned to her Mom and said, “I think I could swim in them, I did just complete swim lessons!’ Her Mom laughed as she hugged her, keeping a stronger grip on her; in case she would really get the urge to try and swim.

“Hey, look at that!” Everyone turned to look at something that was in the sky. The little girl knew this was her chance with everyone distracted and her Mom having let go. 1-2-3 and she jumped!!!

With horror the Mom, saw the flash of her orange shirt going by. She grabbed the rail and screamed a gut wrenching sound.

Whoa! What was that? It couldn’t be! Everyone had their cameras out and were pointing.

Her little girl was flying!! Her arms were outstretched and she was gliding, she came back and landed right in front of her pale faced Mom. “Did you see me Mom? I did it! I was a bird, just like I always wanted to be!”

Friday’s 6 word story!

If Mom says it, it’s TRUE!!

This is true until they become a teenager 🙂 Ha! The forecast for this weekend make me think of this. We have 100percent chance of rain or maybe it will just sprinkle 🙂 Let  me explain, there is a absolute adorable 3 minute video that you need to watch if you haven’t seen it yet. It is 2 Three year olds discussing the weather. A boy and girl, and their discussion is priceless. Go to Youtube and find it, it is worth your time , will have you a smile for the rest of the day!  It all starts with the one saying how its raining outside and the other one says, No, its sprinkling. “No, my Mommy said its raining!”, “No, my Mommy said its sprinkling!” The conversation only gets cuter as it continues. Trust me you don’t want to miss the ending. Did I get you curious enough? Have a GREAT DAY! And remember Listen to your Mama! She knows what she is saying! Well at least most of the time, LOL!

The Carrot

I love children’s books! I love all books, but sometimes its just fun to read Children’s books,  and the simple truths that they plainly state. Not to mention the pretty pictures 🙂

I was reading the story The Carrot today in my toddlers class. Do you remember that story? A little boy planted some carrot seeds and his family told them they would never grow, he watered them every day and weeded and his family told him they aren’t going to grow. He would check it every day and nothing would be there, and his family would shake their heads. BUT that day comes when he goes out and checks it and he sees a BIG, ORANGE CARROT!  So big he needed  a wheelbarrow for it!

A simple story of faith. The little boy believed even when everyone was telling him it wasn’t going to happen. He didn’t lose hope as the days passed  and there was no carrot, he just kept doing what he knew to do and believing.

Thankful for a family that believes in me, and is always there for me!  They have my back just like family is supposed to. Thankful for friends who stand by me and help shut out the anti-carrot voices. The voices that say just give up, you really think something good is going to come out of this, you are wasting your time.  Let those voices fade into the wind!

Who has your back today? Make sure you listen to them! Keep nurturing that carrot, it will grow into the BESTEST carrot ever!
