Moment by Moment…

Please continue to send your thoughts and prayers for this beautiful baby and her family as they travel the unknown path of a serious disease. Thank you!

Even So, Joy

Many have asked how Brennan and I are doing with all of this. I guess you could say that our emotions vary depending on the hour.

Some moments we feel strong and hopeful that God will help our Victoria be victorious. Other moments we start to fear the worst (which is also the medically proven outcome) instead of trusting the Lord. Then we refocus as best as we can.

Today has been a little more emotional for me at times for whatever reason. I look into her beautiful eyes and I just cannot imagine not being able to look into them for the rest of my life. I want to watch her grow and learn, to make friends and learn about Jesus. I want her to experience the simple and extravagant joys of life. I want her to travel the world with us and explore.

Tuesday’s Thoughts!

“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.” Maya Angelou

I sure wish I had all the answers! But I refuse to let it keep me from singing!

“Writing is the painting of the voice.” Voltaire

I just found this quote and I think it has become one of my favorites!

“Books are the plane, and the train and the road. They are the destination and the journey. They are home.” Anna Quindlen

I have loved books since the age of 4! I could read anywhere when I was little, in a crowded, noisy room, didn’t matter. I lost myself in the book. Being examined by a Dr. Yup, when I was little, my Mom said I wouldn’t let go of the book, kept reading as the Dr. tested my reflexes and checked me over. You just can’t put down a good book 🙂

Sorry for delay, back to regularly scheduled blogging soon :)

HI everyone! A drawback from working with little kids is all the germs they carry with them. At our daycare starting last Monday our little ones were dropping like flies. On Friday I was the one to drop and am still recuperating. That is why I have not been blogging and I have been missing it and missing reading other blogs. But I am getting better and hopefully by tomorrow I will be back to blogging. 🙂  STAY WELL everyone and stay WARM!! This week looks like its going to be one of the coldest weeks we have had yet this winter. Glad I have my cozy robe!!

The power of our senses!

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “The Transporter.” Today’s post is supposed to be about a favorite smell, sight or music that takes us back to our childhood.

Meadow Tea is something that always reminds me of my childhood. My Mom had a patch of mint tea out in her yard and I loved seeing her  coming in the house with a handful of it. Knowing that soon I would have some freshly made Meadow Tea. The smell of minty leaves cooking on the stove made my taste buds start to salivate and after it was done, 1 glass was never enough. To this day when I make it or someone serves it to me it takes me back to pleasant summer day memories of being a child. If you have never tried it, you don’t know what you are missing!

The beautiful  sight of Weeping Willow trees transports me back to my childhood. One of my best friends had a Weeping Willow tree out in their meadow by the creek. We spent hours playing in the rippling  creek , either wading in it and splashing or floating down the creek in our inner tubes.  Running in the meadow through the lush green grass was a time I enjoyed running 🙂 That was fun exercise, running now to exercise just isn’t my thing. Maybe that is the problems, I don’t have a lush green meadow with a weeping willow tree. .  It was simple  outdoor fun that provided hours of entertainment and lasting, warm memories.

There are so many songs I could name that take me back to my childhood, but for now I will just think of what first came to my mind. Performing church musicals with my wonderful friends when we were little. Out of nowhere I can find myself humming the songs to some of the musicals that we did. Music Machine and  BullFrogs and Butterflies. They were fun musicals with  catchy songs and us kids had a grand time performing them. No we never took them to Broadway, but they were still meaningful to us and I appreciate  the adults who worked with us, and gave us the opportunity to perform. I am amazed at how vivid some of the memories still are of us practicing and performing. We worked hard, these weren’t just real simple musicals. I remember sitting on haystacks in our jeans and flannel shirts as we did the Music Machine musical.  The one song that really sticks out to me is the Patience song. I sang it several times to  my children. “Have patience, Have patience, don’t be in such a hurry! When you get impatient, you only start to worry. Remember, Remember, that God has patience too and think of all the times when others had to wait for you!” It was a song about a speeding snail named Herbert who got in trouble cause he would crash through every spider web with crickets he would collide until  one day his Father took his speeding son aside 🙂

Oh the power of our senses when we see, smell and hear things! I love how a simple thing can transport us back into time. Who needs a time machine, the sights and smells are natural time machines 🙂

Is it right in front of you?

At work my class of 2 year olds have a favorite game they love to play. It is the Color Game. Pretty sure that part of the reason they love it so much is the little candy they get when they find the right color 🙂 The game consists of holding up a laminated circle and asking them what color it is.With joy they start on their hunt for that color. Their  big smile when they point to something of the right color is great to see. They are proud of themselves! They don’t get discouraged if they don’t find it right away, they keep looking. What the other teacher and I have noticed is how often they miss what is right in front of them. We sometimes have make ourselves stifle our laughter.

The color that they are looking for will sometimes be on their shirt, or on a toy that they are holding right in their hands! But they will search around the room looking and at times find the very smallest thing of that color 🙂  Isn’t that so much like life? At times we can be searching and searching and the answer is right smack dab in front of us. The answer can be so big, like the white walls in our rooms. No child has ever pointed to the walls for the color white. The answers may not always be where we expect them to be, but they are there. Keep your eyes open today as you go about your day, don’t miss what may be right in front of you!

Yes sometimes the search for answers can be very hard, and they aren’t easy to find; but don’t make it hard when its not!

The Neurologist Appointment

Dear friends please take the time to read this and I encourage you to follow her blog. This is a dear friend of my niece’s who is going through a devastating diagnosis of her 6 month old baby rightn now. Please keep Baby Tori in your thoughts and prayers right now and her parents who are walking a journey that no parent wants to walk. The Mom Lesa is part of the WordPress family and I have been so encouraged by the wonderful bloggers I have met on here, so I am thankful that I know you will stand in the corner for Tori too!

Even So, Joy

We met with the neurologist this morning to receive further insight into the MRI results, and it looks like we will still have to wait for a certain diagnosis.

However, the news we did receive is devastating.

We saw the MRI images and the inside of Tori’s brain has shrunk, and there is fluid in the middle. The doctor said that it appears that she has some form of leukodystrophy – which is very serious and not always treatable. I am crying as I even type those words.

We will have blood work on Tuesday to try to narrow down what she is facing, but it doesn’t look good. She will also be seeing a pediatric ophthalmologist.

We need a complete miracle. We know God is bigger than this! But the thought that we might losing our baby girl is more than we can bear. We are trying to stay…

Tuesday’s Thoughts!

Good Morning my friends! I am starting off with a quote that I sent my girls off to school with.

Be the Somebody who makes Everyone feel like a Somebody! Anonymous

This next quote goes along with that and is my desire,

I want to inspire people. I want someone to be able to look at me and say,

“Because of you I didn’t give up.” Anonymous

What a honor to have that be said of you! For the last quote I had to smile. The meaning of the quote is not new, but said in a way that struck me as unique and another reason to like Ghandi

“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.” Ghandi

We are in control of what we let enter our mind! Go have a great day!

The Friends I Have Never Met

This poem was posted online by my friend Julie  and I asked her if I could share it on here.  It expressed my feelings so well! This is my thank you to my readers that I have never met!

It’s strange to have a friend like you,

have never hugged, shook their hand,

or looked into their eyes.

But you have been touched by their soul,

seen the good in their hearts and

felt the warmth of their being.

The friends I have never met are not my

friends untouched, I have felt them  when I needed them,

I have confided in them and they are some of the kindest people I have known.

My friends never forget just how special you are to me!!
