The assignment for today was to write about one of your fears, but to write in in a different way from your normal style
“The Itsy Bitsy Spider crawled up the waterspout, down came the rain and washed the spider out!
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain and the Itsy Bitsy Spider crawled up the spout again!”
“Little Miss.Muffet sat on a tuffet eating her curds and whey, along came a spider and sat down
beside her and frightened Miss.Muffet away!”
I did sing this song and recite this poem to my girls when they were little, BUT….I have never liked spiders!
My version of the Itsy Bitsy spider would be something like this:
“The Itsy Bitsy spider crawled up the waterspout, down came the rain and washed the spider out!
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain and the Itsy Bitsy spider was never seen again!!”
and Little Miss. Muffet was to tame, here is my version:
“Little Miss.Muffet sat on a tuffet,(what is a tuffet anyway?) eating her curds and whey, along came a
spider and sat down beside her and out came the rock that flattened the spider and Little Miss. Muffet
continued to eat her curds and whey!”
Yes, spiders may be smaller than me, but they scare me! Especially the big ones! I remember once when I was little and we were in the laundry room. A big, hairy, black spider started crawling on the floor. I screamed, my sister screamed, and no, we weren’t all screaming for ice cream! My Mom came and bravely stepped on it! This was followed by much more screaming! Apparently Mama spider was pregnant! Tons of little babies went running everywhere! I believe this is what gave me my fear of spiders! It was like a scary movie, but it was real! Stomp, stomp went my sister and Mom, as I ran and ran out of the laundry room, never to be heard from again. Well I think I did come out of my room for snack that night 🙂
Here is another poem of mine:
“The animals came two by two, Oh my it looked like quite the zoo!
The rains are starting, quick don’t be late!
Oh look the spiders are lagging behind, but never mind. leave them to their fate!
Quick, close the door, there will be spiders no more!”
Before you think I have no heart, let me state, that there is one spider that I don’t hate!
I have watched this spider for years; from when I was a tiny tot, to the time my girls were tiny tots.
This spider was sweet and caring and had her own charm, so I didn’t wish her any harm.
Charlotte my dear, you gave me no reason to fear!
